I've been saving up, and lately have nearly enough to/am considering buying a relatively cheap PC computer for software that no longer can work on Mac. Such as creatures. Up until today I had been mostly holding out hope that the Fishing Cactus collectors edition would allow for C3DS on a modern Mac, but after the questioning in CChat revealed they had given over the collectors edition versions of the old games to some unknown company to make I have pretty much given up. However, before I buy anything I have a few creatures-related questions I was hoping you guys could either answer, or tell me where to look.
? What are the maximum/minimum system requirements for the assorted creatures games, both GoG and Exodus?
? Do either the GoG or Exodus games need special graphics cards, or other such things?
? Can an average modern PC run any creatures game without some form of enhancement?
? What would you recommend for the cheapest PC able to run C3DS and mods without any tinkering besides the login disabler while not falling apart?
Thanks in advance for answering these questions and sorry if I sound somewhat angry. I just had a bad day even before FC sold out on creatures with their farmville-ish excuse for a creatures game then basically gave up on the old games. |

Darn, I must have missed that part of the chat - what exactly did they say about what they were doing or not doing with the old games? I'm pretty much in the same boat as you, in that I'm looking to upgrade, but I also want to play Creatures on my Internet-wordprocessing-email-spreadsheeting device.

Wait... What? Fishing Cactus merely stated that they're not involved with the old games, and that BigBen is handling this upgrade. Scal personally PMed me during the chat to apologize about any questions regarding C1, C2, and C3/DS, since Fishing Cactus was in no way involved with this part of the Collectors Edition.
There are minimum system requirements listed with the GOG.com games. It's in small print, but it should provide you with some information. Buying a PC is a very in-depth decision. Price is a big part of it, yet a lot of it is based on personal preference, too. Might want to just do a search for cheap computers to compare them online.
I'm also not sure I got the whole Farmville-ish vibe from the chat. Very different, yes, and lacking some features, but we still have a lot more to learn. They didn't give up on the old games: It was just impossible for them to answer any questions regarding them, because they truly don't know.
