We now have a new user level here at Creatures Caves: Staff Member. A Staff Member falls between the Member and Moderator levels of the user hierarchy:
Administrator
Manager
Moderator
Staff Member
Member
A staff member is responsible for posting in a certain area of the website. The following categories exist:
- News
- COBs
- Creatures
- Metarooms
- Breeds
- Images
- Links
- Resources
You may choose one or more areas of the website you would like to be assigned to update regularly (i.e. at least once per week).
Staff members' posts automatically bypass the approval system. They may also edit and delete their posts throughout the entire website. Additionally, it will say Staff Member alongside their forum posts.
However, there is responsibility with this level. If you sign up and say that you're going to post news, and then never post news, then your Staff Member level will be revoked. You must be at least making an effort to scour the community and find posts for the categories you've selected.
To apply, please simply respond to this thread and state (1) which categories you would like to be assigned to and (2) why you think you would be a good staff member in the area(s) in which you've selected. Applications will be reviewed by managers, moderators and administrators, and then users will be sent a private message regarding the results.

Hello, I would like to apply for the News category. I think I would be a great fit for this position because I'm dedicated in anything I do and I have a lot of ideas to share! |

Hey there! I've decided I want to help out too. I'd like to be a staff member of the Images category. Being an artist, I can definitely relate to those who post art, and all the other images is another part of what brings our community together.
I want to give back to Creatures Caves after all it's done for me, so I will do my absolute best with this position!

These are very important positions within the Cave/Community. If you feel you are responsible and want to contribute, then do reply and get involved!

I would love to, but sadly, I'm afraid I don't have much time to devote to it...

Just to clarify something: If you'd like to post COBs or Breeds, you don't have to post a newly created one every week, you would just post COBs/breeds that you found throughout the community on other websites. The breeds list has a long way to go before it's as full as the one at SeeYou7.net.
Additionally, there seems to be some confusion about what Staff Members do. To clarify: Staff Members are able to post throughout the entire website without needing approval. However, they can pick a "focus" that they like the best. If you want to post images, as Panda-mist does, that doesn't mean you can't also post news, links, etc. You can still post anything you want in other categories.
I hope this helps. If people have questions please post them here and we'd be happy to help. Please don't feel intimidated about the amount of work that it would entail, it's just supposed to give you an opportunity to contribute more without waiting for your posts to be approved.

Hmm... If I volunteered for the Creatures category, would I have to post just my own Creatures every week, or would I be required to post other peoples as well?

You'd post your own creatures; we'd probably encounter some problems if we started posting each others! |

Oh, okay! Well, that certainly changes things then! I'd like to try for the Creatures category staff position. I've got loads of interesting creatures in my repertoire that could diversify anyone's gene pool, from every game except C2. Though I don't have any third party breeds, I have been known to make some odd Creatures through the Genetics Kit, when it decides to function properly. I'm sure you guys would enjoy some of my Dr. Franken-Shee experiments. ![[nwink] [nwink]](/images/smilies/emot_wink.gif)
And I'd like to have a chance to become more involved with the community. You know, give something back, eh?

Thank you for clearing that up! If I happen to find some breeds, can I add them too? I noticed there's still a lot of breeds to be added, and I'm happy to help.
It occurred to me today that I could've applied for that section too, but I figured it was too late.

There is absolutely nothing stopping you from contributing outside your chosen area - if you want to post something, go ahead. The idea of the chosen area is just so that we don't have five or six newshounds tripping over themselves to post news on the front page while the rest of the site stymies, but instead, to have a bunch of people with diverse interests working on the different parts of Creatures Caves.

Thanks! I definitely will! It's a lot of fun adding breeds too. I don't know why!

I'd love to be a staff member; I mainly enjoy posting Creatures and breeds, but if I find have any particularly interesting images I'll definitely post them too! |

Congratulations to C-Rex on becoming our newest Staff Member!
Want to help Creatures Caves become the no. 1 resource for addons? We could really use someone to work on populating the COBs section, if anybody wants to step forward and apply! There's a wealth of COBs and Agents that still need to be linked to in our ever-growing library. |

With the exception of LilyNorn and Panda-mist, who have both consistently posted new content, a call to our staff members:
Guys! Where are the new creatures, breeds, images, COBs, links, resources and news posts, eh? We haven't noticed very much staff member activity on the website at all lately. With your privileges, you ought to be at least making an effort to scour the community and find posts for the categories you've selected. Also, don't forget what Rascii said:Staff Members are able to post throughout the entire website without needing approval. However, they can pick a "focus" that they like the best. If you want to post images, as Panda-mist does, that doesn't mean you can't also post news, links, etc. You can still post anything you want in other categories. Remember it's users' contributions which help to make Creatures Caves what it is, and we enjoy seeing you all embrace and take on that responsibility. |

First question: Are applications for staff members still being accepted?
Second question: Are staff members allowed to edit things they did not submit as long as the submission in question is within their chosen category?
Because if the answer to both of those is "yes," then I'd like to apply for the Metarooms category. The place hasn't been updated for a while, and some of the links there are broken/lead to the wrong thing/are listed for the wrong game/etc. Since I'm on almost all the time, I think I could do well to fix that section up a bit.

Staff member applications are still being accepted, yes. In fact, we're still looking for a staff member to help out in the COBs section!
Rascii is probably the best person to confirm this, but as far as I'm aware staff members aren't able to edit or delete other members' website posts like moderators+ can, they can only edit and delete their own posts. However, if you'd like to point out which metaroom posts need tidying up we'll be happy to see to them. |

As Laura stated, staff members are not able to edit/delete other members' posts. Only moderators and above can do that.
Thank you for your eagerness in sprucing up the metarooms section though. Also as Laura stated, you can make a list of the problems and PM them to someone who has the ability to edit them.

To highlight an earlier point: Staff Members are not just restricted to the sections they're assigned to, they're only your 'main focus', if that makes sense.
In other words, if you decide that you'd also like to contribute to a section outside of your chosen area, then please feel free to do so. We'd love you to!
As always, the available sections are: COBs, adoptions, breeds, news (i.e. posting news on the homepage), links, resources and images. |

I'd like to apply. I don't know if it is necessary to choose a particular subject, but I know I'll be on top of adoptions and COBS. Breeds if possible. Personally I think it would be nice to see more directly available COBS and Breeds, but it seems most likely due to ownership elsewhere, they're just linked to another website. I'd love to see them available here, in case (which is too common) said original owner and website go under.

Yeah, agents are offered however best suits the author's preferences. There are still plenty that could be added or listed, though.
