I'm currently running an undocked Capillata, with three Toxic Norns. They seem to have become addicted to both the Holistic Learning Machine and the Empathetic Vendor. Is this Eat Elevator Syndrome? Is there a way to fix it? ![[nangry] [nangry]](/images/smilies/emot_angry.gif)
Also, can Toxics eat regular food without being harmed?

Eat Elevator syndrome is where norns get stuck at an elevator, and when you ask them 'what' they're doing, they say 'eem eat elevator'. It's described better on the Creatures Wiki. This isn't EE syndrome, it's just that they've found that pushing vendors and machinery is fun. You could try encouraging them to push toy instead.
A lot of the foods in DS have cures incorporated into them. The cures are often dangerous to toxic norns, but plain food is fine for their digestion (though not as nutritious as detritus or manky). Lemons, Yarn Fruit, and Tubas aren't a good idea, in particular.

Do you use the Holistic Learning Machine patch by any chance? It allows each Creature to only use the machine once, which greatly improves the whole addiction situation! It's also great for letting uneducated Creatures actually have a turn... I remember the days when some of my Norns decided to hog the machine for hours!

Once I made my own HLM patch. It simply punished them upon usage. Pretty useful since I don't want them to fiddle with any of my gadgets and machines either. This way I don't have to teach 'em by hand.

Bearthing: Yes indeed! Probably one of my favorite patches, just because its simplicity makes it amazing. Feel free to PM me your e-mail if you'd like it! I'm pretty sure the online downloads of it have been down for some time.
Papriko: Very smart! Creatures always love messing up my machines.... I think I tried to create some awesome connected gadgetry back in the day, and then gave up because all it took was an Ettin to undo the entire invention. Ha ha!
And on this topic, I uninstalled C3/DS completely yesterday (after making backups of what I would need). Probably won't get around to reinstalling until later this week, but Discover Albia should finally have some non-C1 updates pretty soon! Assuming, of course, that this reinstall goes well!

Thanks, Malkin! Just posted a new blog post with great news! It's so nice to have the wolfing controls actually working again... I might not utilize them that much, but not having them available when I needed them was torture!
Back to Toxic Norns, I've found that the fungi are usually a good food source for them. I don't have too much experience with them, but they never seemed to suffer too much when eating those. Malkin got it right about many foods often having cures built in, which can be very harmful. I still try to cross Toxic Norns with other Norns from time to time... Disastrous results, yet the mad scientist in me hopes to work on that someday!
