Okay, so my sister has this Norn. He's a first generation egg maker Magma Norn, named Timmy. Timmy lives in a world with no Ettins or Grendels. He seems completely normal, except one major quirk in his behavior. He acts like an Ettin. ![[nscared] [nscared]](/images/smilies/emot_scared.gif)
Whenever a pregnant female Norn complains of being homesick, he tells the "maybe approach ettin home". When a Norn says they're bored, he says "maybe push gadget". He disconnects her devices, he frequently wanders to the Desert Terrarium. Timmy looks like a Norn, he sounds like a Norn, but he acts like an Ettin! Is this normal?
She tells me his children are completely normal, and she hasn't had any other Ettins in Norn pajamas. Unfortunately, Timmy has died. I have no way to study him to figure out this mystery. R.I.P, little Ettin guy.
Edit: She also tells me that before he could talk, he spoke like an Ettin. He had a Norn voice, but he said the Ettin words. He also apparently walked like a little Ettin. ![[nquestion] [nquestion]](/images/smilies/emot_question.gif)

Magma Norns are "native" to the Ettin home because that is a desert and, well, they're Magma Norns. I don't know about the gadget stuff, but that's probably normal. Ettins want to "get gadget" anyway, not push it. |

It came off as strange, because we've both had Magma Norns before and none of them ever exhibited such behavior. Then again, mine died in a plague before they were old enough to breed, too. I must conduct a study! Thank you!
Edit: Billy tells me that he did hoard gadgets in the desert at one point.

Yeah, none of my Magmas ever acted different from other Norns.
It IS sometimes possible for a Norn to learn that sort of thing, though. If he spent a lot of time around Ettins as a baby, for instance, he might've followed their advice and learned from it. I have heard Norns speak Grendel baby talk--albeit rarely--so I'm sure it could happen with Ettinish too. Given that the kind of baby talk a Creature initially speaks is scripted, AFAIK that part couldn't have been a genetic quirk. He was probably just a tad bilingual.

Pushing gadget does reduce boredom, though not as well as most toys do. If he grew up in the ettin terrarium, he may have learned that the volcano rocks ('toys') didn't do anything for boredom, but that gadgets worked fine. There is a fix available for the volcano rocks that makes them playable and fun. ![[ngrin] [ngrin]](/images/smilies/emot_grin.gif)
