I was wondering, what counts as a genetic breed? Are there specific requirements? Or can it just be a specially altered genome? Furthermore, if I customize a sprite set for it, would it be a full breed? And lastly, how to I access the sprite sets? ![[nquestion] [nquestion]](/images/smilies/emot_question.gif)

A 'genetic breed' means that it has a specially altered genome, but no new sprites. It would be a full breed if there were new sprites.
You can access the sprites in your Images folder, and some more info about how to find out what images belong to what breed can be found here. ![[ngrin] [ngrin]](/images/smilies/emot_grin.gif)

Usuly a genetic breed is when you make a new creature with new set of edited genom (aging by only pushing creatures, immune to certain disease etc - making it special and uniq) and use existing set of sprites of breeds installed (example a blue siamese norn with toxic arms and legs with banshee grendel tail) - that alone make it a genetical breed.
And a new breed in general is when you usuly make a new set of sprites that you made.
Most people do like to make special genoms go with the new breed as well,of course - just to make it extra special, but is not necessery :3
Well thats at least as far I know (and in my openion,is the differences between the two)
Hope that helps |

Oh, thank you! Correct me if I'm wrong, but I have to save the edited genome somewhere, right?

A genetic breed is a breed that uses a custom genome, but has no sprites of its own. Take the Fiona Norns, for example. They do not have any sprites, but they are all vicious, ESPECIALLY during pregnancy. If you made sprites for it, it would become a full breed.
To access the sprites, I believe you have to copy all the files and rename them from .c16 to .BMP. Then open them up in GIMP or something, edit them as you please, then rename them back to .c16 when you're all finished. |

If you made a genom yourself, you can actuly save it anywhere you think i's safe,as long you can load it with genetic kit (or any gene editor) and inject a egg ingame or continue edit the genom itself:3
But the default folder for genetic genes,is of course, the genetic folder,in the creatures folder.
I hope that is what you wanted to know ^^ |

Ah, thank you. I've found the site to be most hospitable. I do have one more question... How would I post the breed online?

Put the files in a ZIP archive, then upload it to the Breeds section of Downloads. |

You could use winzip on an example norn or two or the genome and a readme, and then post it in the breeds section with a good picture. ![[ngrin] [ngrin]](/images/smilies/emot_grin.gif)

That's good to hear :3
I belive that you can post it over here at CC (Creatures Caves) in the download section,as I know thats what people where sort of allowed before, but perhaps someone can clarify if im wrong on that.
If anything fails, you could get a free site, such as google page (like I use) and upload your'e things there perhaps.
You do need a google account for a google page, thought, but it is free and register should be easy too :3
Thats all I can think of right now X3 |
