| Sleeping quirk with my C1 Norn! | |

It seems like a lot of us have problems with our Norns sleeping until they die! I have a Norn named Celestia that will sometimes sleep and stay asleep beyond reason. Her daughter died of this because no matter what I did, she wouldn't wake up. Injections and smacking offered no response. Her mother happened to be under the same kind of sleep when that happened, so I tried to get her to wake up with, once again, no results. It was about to be a doubly sad day for me. However, in an act of desperation, I had the hand say her name.
After all the slapping, wake up pills, and energy shots doing absolutely nothing, saying her name wakes her up. Of all things! This has happened multiple times and that's the only thing that can wake her up when she gets trapped in her sleep! If only I had tried that with her daughter, Lovely. D: Poor thing.
She's an old lady, now, and just got over a run with Antigen 1 (which I let her sleep through as I kept her energy up).
Does anybody know of another Norn with this quirk? Does it seem like a system glitch or something funky in her genes? Is this a normal every day thing that I wasn't aware of? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this, guys!

It is probably a mutation. I remember in creatures 3 and docking station some of my norns mutated to do the same thing. They would fall asleep and never get any satisfaction from sleeping therefore forever being tired and asleep unless I constantly wake them. |

I think I had the same oddity occur in my C1 Norn, Bellona: Bellona: C1's Sleeping Beauty?
After much puzzlement and scratching of heads, a study by Jessica, of Discover Albia, revealed that Bellona needed a distraction in order to stay awake. This had to be initiated by the Hand, as she was unable to distract herself. It also appeared to be more of a focus problem, rather than a sleeping problem. For example, once Bellona became distracted by food and began to eat, it was as though she could not stop eating. The same happened when Bellona slept, although Jessica concluded that this was more pronounced, due to a sleeping increase mutation.
I'm not an expert on mutations or genetics, so I'm hoping I've got my facts straight. With any luck Jessica will pop by and explain things a little better! I definitely recommend that you read her study, The Curious Case of Bellona, too for an interesting and insightful read. Perhaps you'll notice some similarities happening in Celestia?
I hope you manage to find a way of helping Celestia soon; hopefully I've helped you a little bit! We're the owners of some very special Norns. |

I did read about Bellona Celestia does have some problems with listening to the hand. She always wakes up when I say her name- that's the part I found weird. One would think hitting her would have a greater impact! Once I do wake her up she does just fine, though I wish she'd stop interacting with other Norns and eat, I may have to temporarily export her friends since none of them like listening to me and she needs some time to recuperate. She never gets overly excited about eating, so I'm not sure if it's focus. I believe when I was looking at the late Lovely's biochemistry I may have seen the reward issue- I'll double check Celestia's graphs the next time she goes to sleep.

If you need any help with deciphering mutations (or finding them), I'm always up for it! I know there are some other expert geneticists around the boards, too, and it's always nice to be able to somewhat understand what's going on when a Creature starts behaving a little differently. Good luck with her!
