Hi this is my first post in these forums and Id like to start by thanking all of you for creating this awesome site to help out newbs like me  My problem is I got the genetics kit for creatures 1 and its not working correctly. I have my game open when using the genetics kit, and when in the genetics kit I press the export button "lay egg" I get the error message "Cannot locate creatures application" Does anyone know how to fix this problem? It is very literally the only problem holding me back from having a great time playing this game. Thanks guys and gals! EDIT: Here is a screenshot of the message I have to tell you the game was open but since I used alt+prntscrn It only took a picture of the error message window. Lynx1s |

Did you get C1 from GOG.com, or in the Albian Years? If so, you might find the Creatures Remastered Patch helpful. My TCR Norns |

I tried istalling the patch before and it didnt work for me it just messed my game up and I had to re-install it. My C1 is from a trilogy but my C2 in the trilogy didnt work  Edit: Maybe should I install the genetics kit in the creatures folder in program files? Lynx1s |

Ok, if it's from a three-pack set, the remastered patch will probably not work. Trying to install the Genetics Kit in the same directory as Creatures seems like it's worth a try. My TCR Norns |

Hmm, here are a couple of other random questions that might help narrow down the issue. 1.) What is the name of the genome you're trying to lay an egg with? 2.) Could you take a screenshot of the Genetics Kit screen just before you click on "Lay Egg?" 3.) Have you tried starting a brand new world and trying to lay an egg via the Genetics Kit in it? |

Ok so I have a brand new albian world with no norns in it. I have the world running and paused atm with genetics kit running at the same time. I loaded the dad1.gen and this is what it looks like just before I press "lay egg" http://i45.tinypic.com/207s3tv.png I know you cant see the game but it is running directly behind this application. After pressing "lay egg" I get that same error message "cannot locate creatures application" EDIT: Figured I would also add I tried with the world paused and not paused either way I get the same message. EDIT 2: Here is what it looks like after the error message http://i50.tinypic.com/2envsqg.png Also I have tried changing the sex to force it to be male and tried female as well doesnt matter still getting the same error message. It sounds like you might be experiencing a similar problem documented Here. The solution was to run the Genetics Kit in admin mode. Maybe try that out? I hope that works... I'm running out of ideas! |

WOW LOOOL I cannot believe I havnt tried that already seeing as I installed it as admin. Yea that just fixed my problem I feel so dumb XD Thanks you guys I will appreciate your help I really cant believe that was the fix for this but it works! Lynx1s |
