Is there a list anywhere where I can find the "best" DS breeds? There are so many on the seeyou7 list it's a bit overwhelming. I've downloaded all of Ghosthande's breeds, and some of Amanora's (such as butterfly norns and rainbow chichis). I also have the city norns and many of the CL breeds.
Any other recommendations? Also, I feel like such a newbie, but I can't find the Norngarden 4 swimmer agent. I tried searching the forums. >< I saw there's one in CC.com downloads called Improved Swimmeragent. Is this better than the Norngarden one? Although according to the comments, it's outdated anyway.

I'd recommend the Jungle Norns, Aqua Norns and Pink poodle Ettins available from the Norn Garden website. |

I think the only breed I'd add to those you have and those suggested would be Apple Norns. They're my favourite community breed because they fit in nicely with the original Creatures Labs breeds (they're like an improved version of the Treehugger). ![[nsmile] [nsmile]](/images/smilies/emot_smile.gif)

Ooh, let's see.
I'm a bit picky about which breeds I use--and I tend to group them by color family so I can always have neat crossbreeds, hehe.
Ancient Magmas (EG): I know some people say they look plain, but they're quite pretty and they crossbreed really well, eg. with the Fallows and Astros. They're long-lived, too; most Norns in my agent testing worlds have AMag ancestry, because then I can code for a few hours and come back and my favorites will still be around.
Apple Norns (NY): thirded(?). Not only are their expressions adorable, I especially like the Apple/Harlequin and Apple/Astro crosses.
Beowulf Norns (gB): a good breed if you want something that can coexist with other violent breeds. Also handsome, if subtle, coloring.
Crossing grayscale breeds like the Bengals des Neiges (EO), Dodgy Norns (gY), Ombra Norns (ER), Tilynn Norns (GQ) (even though they're unfinished), and Zebra and Civet Norns can give you some really cool results. And pretty much any cross that has stripy arms/legs will look cool. I also have a Norn genome that uses the Vampyre Grendel (GF) sprites which I like to use in these crosses.
Any C2toDS breeds including the Desert Norns (NH/EM), Emerald Norns (NI/EI), Golden Desert Norns and Pixie Norns.
Crimson Norns (GZ): this is another breed that gets a lot of criticism, but they make some really cool crosses, especially with the Apple and Harlequin Norns.
Draconian Norns (gZ): I don't think I actually have them right now, but they're cool.
Dream Norns (gF): make especially good crosses with Apple Norns and Astro Norns. Some people complain that crossbreeds lead to sliders... but as far as I can remember I have never gotten any. ![[noddeye] [noddeye]](/images/smilies/emot_oddeye.gif)
GAIA (gG): although geats suffer from the Wasteland Glitch which means the rooms around them tend to turn into Air when they look at each other, Gaia is usually located on the Bridge anyways, which already has a non-growable room type.
And as far as Grendels, there are the Boney Grendels (GC) and C2 Grendels (GT).
There are also the Gecko Norns (NG), which I usually cross with Grendels instead of other Norns.

Hmm, let me think.
I mainly use CFE breeds in most of my worlds, I really like using the Astro, Harlequin and Fallow norns and I also use the apple norns, (Fourth? Bengal and Bruin norns.
Ocassionally I would use the Zebra and Siemese norns and the Sabertooth norns are good outside the capillata.
I have the Yautja norns but I hardly ever use them because they always seem to be fighting each other.
For creatures 1 to Docking station norns I mainly use the Pixie norns and the purple mountains.
With ettins I usually use the normal CFE ettins but I also have lemming ettins and the three ettins from The Ettins Revenge.
Note to self: Get more breeds! ![[ngrin] [ngrin]](/images/smilies/emot_grin.gif) |

I like the Alien Norns, Aqua Norns, Butterfly Norns, Crimson Norns, Bengals des Neiges, Dale Norns, Draconian Norns, Dream Norns, Fire Norns for the looks (they don't cross well), Flora Norns, Gargoyle Norns, Lilac Bengal Norns, the pyrite, dusky and blood grendels, the Dragonfly Demon Ettins, the C12DS breeds, the Sabertooth Norns, and the 'C2toDS' breeds.
I have some CFE firstgen norns of a few third party breeds on my TCR page - you might like to try them out too.

Hey, prefect timing! I've been messing around with aquatic breeds, and have rediscovered a few of my favorite breeds! Gill norns and pearl mermaid norns are the main norn breeds I use, but only the pearl norns can swim. The cfe aqua norns are nice, and can swim with the improved swimming agent. The undine norns are beautiful, even if they can't swim. Though my favorite aquatic breed would have to be the maraquan grendels. They live like 10 hours on average, and they look beautiful. All of the breeds that can swim, can use the improves swimmer 1.1 agent, which is what I use all the time.
For your normal breeds, my favorites are the golden desert norns, gargoyle norns, ivy norns, sphinx norns, and the vampyre grendels. Sadly, I don't think the Ivy norns are available anymore, so if anyone wants them, pm me(I think I even have a cfe version somewhere).

Gargoyle norns. I love them, and they crossbreed well with others, giving a cool pair of wings sometimes in the results. The Yellowstone norns were pretty cool too, they are colorful.

In addition to CFE versions of the CL breeds (the Fallow Norns, Harlequin Norns, and Siamese Norns are my favorites) I enjoy using Dream Norns since they're pretty and usually seem to have good dispositions. I also like Tilynn Norns since they're damn near indestructible, and Blackberry Norns because they seem to cross well with other breeds and their black-and-tan coloration often makes for cute offspring. |
