I DL'd my old favorite game, Docking Station, and loaded it up with some agents and metarooms. To my knowledge I did not do any kind of major editing of the game's files, yet when I try to start a world I get this error:
Simple Agent:
Family: 2 Genus: 24 Species: 54003
Gallery: trul.s16 First Image: 0 Image Count: 18
Created in plane: 4000
SharedGallery: DoCreateGallery
The following sprite gallery was not found:
.\Images\trul.s16
Windows NT/2000 5.0 build 2195 ()
OriginalDisplay DirectX (netbabel 148 ) |
Followed by this one:
.\Bootstrap\010 Docking Station\hm_trumpet.cos
AHE0001: Attempt to access NULL handle [{@}new: simp 2 24 54003 "trul" 18 0 4000 attr 199 bhv ...
Windows NT/2000 5.0 build 2195 ()
OriginalDisplay DirectX (netbabel 148 )

...followed by many more of the first and the second, all involving some kind of .cos file and trul.s16. If I keep pressing continue, I get to a game where the sidebars work, but there's no Capillata, no norns, no anything. When I import I get the Cap, but then I get an error message every two seconds, with each option giving me a virtually unplayable game. (Can't export norns, for example.)
I have no idea where to start with this one. I keep wondering if I need to find this 'trul.s16' file, but a Google search turns up nothing.
I can only imagine it's related to some agent or metaroom or something, but which one would murder trul.s16 and break all these .cos files at once?

I had that same problem. Just remove the hm_trumpet.cos file and, barring the possibility of any other unexpected misbehaving files, it'll work fine. It's either supposed to come with a sprite file or work with an existing one. But unless someone can prove otherwise, as far as I know there are none that exist for it.

Thanks, Mioonktoo; that worked. What also works, if anyone else has this same error, is making the worlds first and THEN shoving all your agents in.

I believe that you somehow have Hausmouse's Trumpet plant code in your world, but not the image file it needs to function. (That's packed up inside the agent file - for the game to be able to use the image file, first you need to inject the agent.) Move the hm_trumpet.cos file out of your bootstrap folder and see how that goes.

Game broke again. Same reason. Hmm.
Weirdly enough, files like hoverdoc.cos seem to be affected, as well...
Taking your suggestions, Malkin. Screwin' around with stuff.
EDIT: Taking out the hm_trumpet.cos file fixed the whole thing. Thank you very, very much, guys. I appreciate it immensely.
