I'm in the process of running -- actually, repeating -- the Danikat IQ Test on a C3-DS norn which for some reason I was unable to fathom was no longer eating properly. In the course of running the IQ Test, I found out via the Medical Monitor agent that he had the ATP decoupler in his system (which should have killed him virtually instantly since it's fast-acting and had also killed another norn which I was also subjecting to the test at the same time). This surprised me so much that I pulled up the X-Ray agent to have a look at him...and was shocked to find out that his brain, drives, stomach, liver A, liver B, heart, spine, lung, loci, kidney, skin, gonad, fight, FDO, stress, immune, and bone functions are all at 0%.
The only thing I can think of which might explain why he's even remotely capable of life at all is that the poor thing is immortal and is literally incapable of dying by the usual means. I feel rather sorry for him since a creature which is in such poor shape as this would (to say the least) probably not find life very pleasant...since he isn't eating, he keeps making that pitiful little whimper that just about breaks your heart because you know it means they're miserable. Since he's in a closely monitored world, I've prompted him to eat many times but he either can't or won't do it even when there's food right in front of him -- even smacking him to make him pay attention doesn't work. (Of course, the fact that his brain and stomach and liver have apparently ceased to function probably has something to do with this.)
UPDATE: I tried using the Creature Remote Control agent on him as a last resort. It made him eat, which at least was something...but the trouble is that my hunch about the failures in his system seem to have been confirmed. Eating is not reducing his hunger one bit. I even prompted him to eat some of the insects in the Terra metaroom in the hope of euthanizing him since those seem to have caused the deaths of other norns in the past...nada. My only consolation is that he probably can't breed at this point since his gonad function has evidently failed (and I wouldn't want him to even if he could)....but I have no way of knowing if any of the eggs which are waiting to hatch are his offspring (there aren't many).
How exactly does one go about euthanizing a C3-DS Norn in Docking Station? (I don't have C3 installed.) Or is that even possible in his case? It seems like the only way left open to me is to simply export him and delete him or else slap him to death (which would be cruel).

There is the so called DEAD command which automatically triggers death. Even the wildest genetic mutations can not resist that.
I'd say he's a case for the airlock, but that's C3 only, but there are a few other agents which provide a fast and painless death.
Alternatively you can trigger it by hand. Make him the selected creature (red arrow above the head), open the CAOS console with Ctrl + Shift + C and then type
targ norn dead
Once you press enter he'll be dead before he even hits the ground. Close the CAOS console again with Ctrl + Shift + C.

Why doing researches? The immortals I got my hands on were usually pretty much the same. The timeline organ managed it to get corrupted somehow and the result is that the death-triggering genes got deleted or messed up.

Just my twisted and demented sense of humor at work...
Since it could perhaps be argued that immortal norns (in the words of one of my favorite authors, Douglas Adams) "have their immortality inadvertently thrust upon them", it would be hilarious if someone could create an immortal norn that has the ability to insult other norns...perhaps in much the same way that Ettins and Grendels have their own language and/or the way in which C2 Doozers arbitrarily speak one of the recognized words at varying intervals. What you'd essentially have then, of course, is the Norn version of Wowbagger The Infinitely Prolonged (from the book "Life, The Universe, And Everything" by Douglas Adams). |

Here is where anyone who'd like to have a closer look at Dylan (the poor little guy who seemingly can't die) can download him.
If you discover something particularly interesting about him, please feel free to share. |
