I keep getting a message that there has been a 'sharing violation while saving newworld.sfc' (newworld being the name of my world). This occurs every 10 minutes, so it's obviously on the autosave. When I close the game, it's unable to save the world data, and when I reopen, the file type isn't recognized. I can revert to the last saved world by copying over the corrupted world with the backup, but when the game goes to autosave, I get the sharing violation message again.
I've tried starting over with several worlds. It doesn't happen right away - it starts after a couple of hours of game play. Has anyone else had this happen? My OS is Vista. |

Is this for Creatures 1? The name of the current world file should be "world.sfc" and is typically located in My Documents. I usually rename any worlds I'm not using, and know that the current world.sfc is the active one. I'm not sure what else this could be, though. I haven't run into the issue in the past, either with the standalone CD version, nor the GOG.com version.
Hopefully this helps out a bit. I also should ask: Do you have the remastered patch installed? Doesn't seem to be the issue here, though.

No, this is C2, so you can create and name a new world with the Worldswitcher when you start the game. (It also keeps insisting that my world was not created with the Worldswitcher utility, even though it was). |

It might have something to do with the weird ghost directories that Vista saves game data to. If you uninstall the game and reinstall it in your home directory (like a folder on your Desktop), what happens? |

It works fine for me and I use Vista. Under normal circumstances it should already have installed a Creatures 2 folder in My Documents and placed the World.sfc file there, to compensate for Vista's oddities.
