I didn't want to make separate threads for all of these since they are too minor.
* What does it mean when a creature has a blank speech bubble? Example
* Is there any way for norns and grendels to breed other than artifical insemination?
* Can a virgin birth from the genetics kit have mutations?
Thanks for answering. |

1. Might be a glitch.
2. Splicing, maybe?
3. I suppose so... |

1. I actually don't know.
2. In Creatures 1, I don't think so. It is possible for norns and grendels to kisspop if you have the "Grendel Friendly" COB installed, though.
3. No. Hatchery Norns in C1 can have mutations, but the Genetics Kit in all games simply spits out a creature with the genome that's currently loaded if "Virgin Birth" is selected. If it isn't...then maybe. I always have it turned out, so I wouldn't know.

1. I'm also not sure. It doesn't happen too often, but I mostly just ignore it.
2. Grendel Man has it correct for C1. The only way to simulate Grendels and Norns breeding is to add Grendel sprites to one of the Norn breed slots, though those are very limited as it is! The Grorn is an example of how to use this. If there's any interest, once I finish up the updated/corrected C1 Grendel sprites and body data, I'll also include a version that can be used in Norn breed slot 9. I can't think of the breed(s) that also use breed slot 9 off the top of my head, but I'm positive there is at least one!
3. Nope! Virgin births simply copy the genome exactly, so there is no chance of having a mutation. When virgin birth is unselected, you may choose the other "parent" and then mutations will be possible. I've actually never tried it, but if you used the same genome name as that of the other parent, you might be able to get mutations generated from a single genome.

Good to have that cleared up. I'll stick to crossing grendels and norns in the Genetics Kit - and see if any mutations crop up! |

Just a point I'm not sure was addressed - with Grendel Friendly, norns and grendels can kisspop all they like, but they will not have any issue without handish intervention.
