Help Forum Reinstalling Docking Station    SpringRain      7/19/2012 Hey I know it's been around three years since I last played Docking Station, but I'm having so much trouble trying to reinstall it and get it to work that it's almost unbelievable. I checked every third party link for DS on the old CreatureLabs site and each one didn't have it anymore or the page was gone. Then, I found a copy saved on my hard drive and it seemed to install okay, except then it checks for the latest update and when it gets to the part where it says "Getting latest build number...transferring installer graphics..." An error message pops up: "Trouble bzip2 reading from C://Program files (x86)/Docking Station/file_list_splash.txt.partial" You can resume the installation from where it left off by running Docking Station from the Start menu" Alternatively, you can uninstall..." *** Okay, so whenever I try to open it, this same thing keeps happening. The other problem is that even when I almost got it to work, I then kept receiving an error message to please change the setting of the display to 16bit. I've got the newest version of Windows and I know that is an outdated amount to change it to. I'm also not sure how to change it to that display... What should I do? Does this mean I can never play DS again? It would be nice if I can get it working so if anyone has any ideas that might help, I'd love to try them out. Thank you for your time. SpringRain. Fortunecookie received the same error when they tried to install Docking Station: Problems With Receiving Update The solution was to uninstall, reinstall and then decline the update offer so that the installation could continue. I hope this helps! Grendel Man also posted further details on how to bypass any future update checks in the above topic too.   Jessica     7/19/2012 Grendel Man's solution from that topic to run the executable from "engine.exe" rather than "installblast.exe" fixes the problem. If not, maybe there's something else that others know about! Hopefully you get everything working again soon! I got it working again thanks to you two. I also used this link to overcome the problem of how to change the colour settings to 16bit using Windows 7: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/258-color-bit-depth-display-settings.html I'm back after 11 years.
