I am trying to make a USB creatures suite, and I am trouble getting C3 to work on the USB. It loads just fine from the exodus folder on the hard drive, but when moved to the USB, when you launch the game, you get no sound, no images, and the only way you can get out of it is to press esc. I read somewhere that editing the machine.cfg might solve it, and even when I managed to do that, and not get the USB version to reset it back to the way it was, it still didn't do anything. Any ideas, or thoughts?

I am not sure, but I guess it is because of the way Windows names it's drives.
In the machine.cfg are absolute paths, which also includes the letter of your USB drive, such as E:
That means in theory it should work, but really only as long as the drive is recognized with THAT certain letter. Once it gets a new letter such as F: it won't work anymore.
And you said it is a USB drive, so it's likely that it often gets a new letter.
As I said, I don't have that much experience with this stuff (especially cuz I am on Linux) but that would be my first guess.

Thanks, I did think of that, and with windows, once it has a letter it doesn't change as long as it is still in the drive. You can also change the letter of the drive to match the letter you need should it change as well. I factored that in, and alas it didn't work.

I don't know much either, but have you tried installing it directly to the USB? |

If you get this to work let me know how. I'd love to be able to set it up to run from my dropbox folder and play it no matter where I am |

The problem above was with the Exodus disc version. I have acquired the GOG version and solved the problem. On my computer, the USB suite is complete, and I am going to begin testing soon. I have managed to get all of the games to work in 32 bit color mode, except for C2, which took a little more work then I thought. I did find a post here that does exactly what GOG did in their shortcut, minus the program the post is telling you about. I applied the program to C2, and modified the shortcut to get c2 to work normally with windows 7, and added code to the program. That's when I ran into a major problem. C2 would crash after you clicked ok to load the world from the launcher program I used. It took some time, but instead of using the shortcut to launch like I did with C3, the problem got fixed by me making my own program to launch c2, after launching it from the launch platform, that launches the other Creatures games. Ds was no problem, all it needed was internal mods in order to run, and I included the offline mode as well. C1 took no modification of anything, and was the easiest to get working.
