Seems like I have a new issue every day, huh?
Suddenly all of my norns are only producing females. Twenty-four in a row seems like more of a coincidence to me. I started a whole new world, and it is still happening. I can still hatch males from eggs, but there is no luck otherwise. There is no evidence that genetics is playing into this, and I'm wondering if there is some of which I am unaware.
A few things I did before realizing this was happening:
1. Downloaded and installed the c1 to DS patch (I played both the old world and new with c1 to DS docked to Creatures 3--this is generally how I always play, and have never had a problem before)
2. Downloaded the Vocabulizer which teaches all norns in the world every word.
3. Hatched a c1 norn and it breed with a c3 norn (this seems like it could mess things up, but not with *every* female norn I have)
That's really all I can think of. has this ever happened to anyone else before, or does anyone have advice on the matter?
I want to create a C3 breed someday..

The eggs of norns, like the eggs of turtles, are said to change sex depending on the temperature. This functionally equates to one season with a preference for girls, one season with a preference for boys, and two seasons with an equal gender bias.
You can get a cos file which removes this bias from Naturing Nurturing.

I had no idea!! That's really neat, actually. Still, there are way too many females in this family. I may need that .cos. Thanks again, Malkin. You are a wealth of knowledge.

You can also control the sex of an unhatched (and not yet hatching) egg using this CAOS command with your hand over the egg:
targ hots setv ov01 #
(# is 1 for male and 2 for female)
By the way, I don't care if anyone steals my ideas for their own work, as long as you don't try to stop me from making my own stuff. Many ideas I mention are things I don't have the time or skill to actually do. |

Would it be possible to change the sex of a norn who already has hatched? |

No, because that's something that has to be defined when a creature is created. Male and female Norns are actually separate species, classifier-wise.

It is possible to make an opposite sex clone using the creature's genetic material.
It is possible to change the species number in C1 or C2, but this is not very effective as it doesn't change sprites or fertility. |

Though I enjoy and appreciate the ideas here, I prefer to do things the "natural" way. As it turns out, the seasonal change for genders has worked out for the better. I just get annoyed when there are two many females because breeding spirals out of control.
For my controlled experiments in selective breeding, I've tried to keep them separate (for the most part) until I'm ready to have a zillion babies.
