Help Forum Breed Slots: Gizmo and CFE    Minx      6/19/2012 I downloaded ever version of the Gizmo norn after reading every tweak and deciding they are completely awesome. Question: Do they have a breed slot of their own or do they replace the original genomes of the corresponding breed? Also, can I still use them with the CFE norns? If I can, will they be able to evolve properly if bred together? I have the CFE norns, but the original creatures still show up when I'm flipping through the egg machine. Am I doing something wrong or is that normal? If it is normal, is there a way to make it so the original DS genomes are not displayed anymore? I don't care to ever use them again. Thanks!! Formally defectiveminx.   Malkin Manager     6/19/2012 The Gizmo and CFE norns are genetic variants, 'genetic breeds' which use the sprites of other breeds and do not have their own slots. Yes, you can use them with the CFE norns - they won't interbreed well, you'll end up with norns with half the brain structures, half the genetic tweaks etc, but it doesn't seem particularly fatal. If you wanted to challenge yourself, you could try working in the gizmo edits into a CFE genome with your genetic editor. I had a partial go at this a while back if you wanted a head-start. It's normal to have both show up, I'd recommend reading The Lost Hand's Guide to Installing Creatures Full of Edits Genomes. My TCR Norns   Minx   6/19/2012 I'm pretty sure I installed the CFE correctly because they still show up in the egg maker as well as the originals. So, you only need to utilize different breed slots if the sprites are different? That makes sense since only the genome has been altered. Still new at a lot of this stuff. Before this year, I think I was like thirteen the last time I played Creatures, so it was a lot more casual. Combining CFE with Gizmo would be quite a challenge, but it also seems interesting and fun. You should continue to do that--I'm sure a lot of people would be interested in it! EDIT: I really love how that life stages and breeding age are altered in Gizmos. That would be a great thing to incorporate in CFEs. I want to create a C3 breed someday.. Regarding breed slots and the likes, I guess this makes me not understand the different between egg packs and genome files. I know they are placed into different areas, but if the genome files don't mess with aspects of the original norns, what does it matter which one you download? I want to create a C3 breed someday.. Formally defectiveminx.   Malkin Manager     6/19/2012 If you've installed the CFE genome pack, that means that any norn you lay from the original egg packs should have the CFE genome, and you can ditch the CFE egg packs.
