Recently I have lost 4 worlds in a row & all of them have given me the same error message when they crashed
Emergency safe place for Creature was not found
Then it is usually followed by this error -
AHE0008: Attempt to access garbaged handle
Does anyone have any idea what is causing this error?
After the error shows up, I haven't been able to open that world again. Sometimes the error will happen while a world is running, but several times it has happened right after I tried to load a world that I just saved. |

Is there something that you've been doing consistently with each world? Using a certain breed, agent, or metaroom? |

Sorry it took so long to respond, this weekend was very busy & I didn't have enough time to write out this post in one sitting.
The worlds all did have a few things in common -
1st, name... all 4 of the worlds were named Voradiya
2nd, purpose... all of the worlds were built to be used for breeding experiments & testing the offspring.
3rd, set up... the first three worlds were set up in a very similar way, with similar metarooms & agents, the 4th world was set up differently to see if it was something in the world itself that was causing the problems.
The 1st world, Voradiya, had been set up a while ago. If I am remembering correctly, it had two metarooms Veridia & an earlier version of Past Seas. There is a basic set of agents that I put in almost all of my worlds, Voradiya had those, as well as a few extras. I tried to limit the amount of agents I put in the world, to keep it simple & less confusing for my creatures. Only one or two sources for each type of foodsource; fruit, seeds, food, bugs, critters. Only one or two types of gadget, one type of machine & I think I had limited the toys to clones of the toys that came with Past Seas. The weather generator & the little water globe from the elemental norns had been added to the Veridia to provide extra light & rain for the plant norns that I had been using in the experiment I had originally set the world up for. At some point I added several portals for the creatures to use to escape to the Warp, & the Advanced Autosaver was something I had added to the world later. If needed I can try to type up a more exact list of what agents were probably in the world, but since the world has been gone for a while, I can not be completely sure if the list would be completely accurate.
Voradiya had been running successfully for quite a long time without any major trouble. The original breeding experiment I had made it for was never finished & I exported the creatures from it & used it for several other breeding experiments without problems, always exporting the creatures when I ended the various experiments. The last breeding experiment that was in progress when the world crashed, involved a number of breeds that I had recently downloaded & installed. It was a rather random & not well thought out experiment, I do not remember what all breeds I had hatched but at some point the world crashed, I can't remember for sure, but it might have complained about a Runtime error when it crashed the game. If it did complain about a Runtime error, I didn't think anything of it, since I was usually able to get back into the world after that type of game crash. I usually lost a bit of progress, but normally I could at least get back into the world. But this time when I tried to get back into the world, all I would get is that 'Emergency safe place' error & the game would crash again immediately.
When I couldn't get back into Voradiya, I made a second world, Voradiya-2 & set it up so that it was as close as possible to the original. I think I may have added Silence Falls as a 3rd metaroom with the idea of using it as a nursery room. With Voradiya-2 I took a bit more care with which breeds I chose for the experiment & actually made a list of breeds that I was thinking of using. From the list I picked a group to use as the starting females & the single starting male. I didn't record which of the breeds on the list I had picked for the females, but I had kept track of which breeds I was going to use for the males. The game crashed before any of the second generation creatures were old enough to breed. I don't think all of the second generation even got to hatch. I tried to get back into the world to finish hatching the second generation but the error popped up & I couldn't get back into the world.
At that point I made Voradiya-3. Once again, I followed the same set up pattern that I had used for the previous two world, but with a few slight differences. I think I may have changed a few of the foodsources, with switching them with different ones, or removing them completely, & I added a 4th metaroom, Aquatillis Pod to give the aquatic breeds I planned on using more room to use. I also removed the Advanced Autosaver to see if that would make any difference. This time I ran the world without any type of autosave turned on & saved at a point not long after the first generation had hatched. Using the same list of possible breeds from Voradiya-2, I refined the plan for the breeding experiment, this time recording the list of breeds I used for the starting females, & setting up a plan for the order in which I would be adding the other breeds in the following generations. It crashed several times while they were growing up, but I was able to get back in with any progress from the last save point being lost. Other than that, things went fine & I was eventually able to get the creatures to breeding age. After the first batch of second generation eggs were laid, I exported the first generation creatures & closed out of the world to save the game before I started hatching the eggs, but at that point, I couldn't even get back into the game because that error showed up when I tried to reopen the world.
Here's the list of breeds that I had been using in the experiment - C1 pixie, C2 pixie(not sure if the original genome or the CFE genome), Coffee norn, Emerald norn(not sure if the original genome or the CFE genome), Zebra norn - gizmo, psychofuzz norn, neko ettin, dragonfly demon ettin, Briar norn, bengal norn - gizmo & kraler draconian. There were more breeds on the list to be added to the future generations, but since the experiment never made it that far, they were never even hatched into the world.
When I made Voradiya - 4 I set it up very differently, only two metarooms, neither of which were used in the earlier versions of Voradiya, I didn't even add all of the usual basic agents I add to the rest of my worlds, I changed most of the agents I was using as the food sources for the creatures & ran it without the autosave again & saved at a point were it was empty of all creatures. This time the world didn't even make it to the second generation. It crashed repeatedly while they were still growing up, usually with that 'emergency safe place' error, but it let me back in with any progress that had been made since the last save completely lost. Giving up on the breeding experiment, I tried to run a wolfling or feral run with random creatures. The world has continued to crash at random points with that error even when I wasn't using the breeds I had been using in that experiment. |

Sounds like something in the placement scripts for the aging creatures script is missing somehow. I might be wrong, but usually agents are anchored at the top left corner, but creatures are anchored at the bottom via some override script to prevent them from being pushed into an illegal area when they age. What might be hapening is that this override script that changes the anchor point may be missing, corrupted, or not being loaded into the world. Check the size of your Engine.exe, should be 2.25Mb if I'm not mistaken.

The Engine.exe size listed when I checked is 2.48Mb. It's the GOG version of C3/DS... |

The one I checked wasn't a GOG.com version, but if it's bigger then you shouldn't be missing anything I hope...

Any ideas on how to check & see if that really is what is causing the problem & how to fix it if it is? And are there any other ideas on what might the problem might be? |

Check EVERYTHING in the Bootstrap folder. There may be something
