I need some help getting Salamander Norns into the world. When I press the button on the Muco egg layer all it does is buzz. It says unpacking images but it won't lay the eggs. Could there be something I'm doing wrong? |

Hi bjw, do you have the correct breed packs installed? In order for them to work correctly the Salamander Norns need the Toxic Norns and the Banshee Grendels installed. If you have, then it might be a problem with the agent file.
Also, is the Norn preview image appearing on Muco, and are you playing Creatures Exodus? If you are, go to Your Documents/Creatures/Creatures Exodus\Docking Station and copy everything from that folder into your normal DS folder.
Also, please may I ask other users to also download the Salamander Norns and test them out for me? I don't remember anyone apart from Grendel Man beta-testing them for me and there might be errors. |

C-Rex, thank you for responding to my inquiry so quickly.
Yes, I purchased the Toxic Norn and Banshee Grendel packs from Gameware back when they were selling them on the mall, so I have the correct sprites installed.
However, on the Muco preview image nothing except a pink question mark comes up for one sex, while on the other sex (female I think) a Toxic Norn head comes up.
The game I am playing is Docking Station installed from the net docked with the C3 ship. I have a separate Creatures 3 cd that I purchased in my CD drive, but it is not called "Exodus," it is only called "Creatures 3." I'm not sure what the difference is. I have been starting the game from the Docking Station icon instead of C3, but I keep the CD in the drive so I can dock my worlds with the ship. I hope that helps answer my question.
Would it make a difference if I put the agent file into my C3 agents folder? I know others have successfully used the breed because I just watched a Youtube video with them in it last night, so I'm not sure if there would be any errors with the breed itself. Though it would be interesting to see if anyone else has had the same problem. |

Have you tried restarting the game? If it still doesn't work it might be something to do with the Muco preview images. I'll email them to you if that's the problem. |

I'm playing C3 and DS from "Creatures Internet Edition" on Win XP. I had exactly the same problems as bjw.
Both Egglayer and Muco don't show the male preview image because the file name is SalamanderM.c16.c16. This doesn't correspond with the agent script ("Egg Glyph File" "SalamanderM.c16", "Dependency 4" "SalamanderF.c16" . Maybe that's the reason why Muco remains in the state of "unpacking images ..." without ever laying an egg.

Oh darn.. well if you can't get them to work, try renaming the SalamanderM.c16.c16 to just SalamanderM.c16 and they should work. |

With the renamed file copied into the Images folder everthing works fine. :-)
The only problem is that the file "SalamanderM.c16.c16." will not be automatically unpacked when trying to lay an egg. I had to decompile the agent in order to get it.
However, as the genfile will be automatically extracted to the Genetics folder you may insert the eggs via Genetics Kit.

I changed the filename and they now work fine. I hatched them and put them in the Aquatillis Pod using the improved swimmeragent. They are swimming pretty well. Thanks for the help and for the new breed. |
