Any aquatic plant experts out there? I'm wondering if the C3 water plant is modeled after a real-life plant or not. I'm thinking it needs to flower, and trying to decide what sort of flowers it might have. Input/suggestions welcome!

I'm no expert on plants, and I haven't really been able to find a water plant that has long, serrated leaves like that.
I've searched Google and looked through Wikipedia's list of freshwater aquarium plants, and haven't seen any exact matches. A few plants that bear partial similarities include:
Alternanthera, especially Alternanthera sessilis (but it has no serrations)
Anubias barteri var. glabra (also has no serrations)
Aponogeton crispus and Aponogeton undulatus (no serrations, but wavy)
Aponogeton diostachyos in particular, doesn't have the wavy edges on the leaves, but it has some really pretty white flowers that stick up on a stalk above the leaves.
Other genera that might bear looking into include Bolbitis, Dracaena, Echinodorus, Ludwidgia, Microsorum, Myriophyllum, Potamogeton, Saururus. I'd recommend looking at the species of these plants listed on Wikipedia's list of freshwater aquarium plants, in particular. None of them have serrated leaves unfortunately, but they may give you a few ideas.

Ooh, the Aponogeton diostachyos flowers ARE pretty...almost orchid-like. The bulbous part makes me think of water hyacinth, which also has nice flowers...but the leaves don't match at all.
You've really spent some time on this, thanks for sharing your findings! I guess if it's not an actual real-world plant, it could have whatever flowers one wanted it to. Hmmmm...

No problem, I'd been wondering myself what they are.
I suppose you could always make something up... Albian gentian and morning glory don't even look anything like their Earth counterparts.

I always thought Albian pear looked delicious despite its unearthliness, personally!

I want a trumpet fruit now. Don't know what it'd taste like but I still want one. |

What were those purple spikey slightly alcoholic fruits in C2... I always wanted to try one of those, for some reason.
I would love to see some complexity added to that waterplant. Even just a basic life cycle. It's pretty much the most boring plant ever right now.

Tantris berries. They were an aphrodisiac. And yeah the waterplant is fairly useless. Looks nice with dragonflies on it though. |

All-righty, then...As soon as I get my update to the updated trapper beaten into submission, I'll have a look at the water plant.
Tearing apart other people's code and rebuilding it is a great way to learn...except that as I keep learning more, I keep needing to go back and re-fix my fixes to things I thought I'd already fixed.
