What's the official word on this? I've been told that Kutoka's port is only for PPC macs, but I haven't found any word on it on the Creatures Wiki, and searching here isn't pulling anything either. I haven't had much success running it in WINE. Would some Mac Creatures players care to share their experience?

I don't know anything about Kutoka's port, but the Mac version you get when you purchase the software only runs on PPC Macs. The newest OSX (Lion) no longer supports PPC apps, and newer Macs (like my Macbook Air) can't run the older versions that did. I ended up using VMWare Fusion to add a virtual WinXP installation, and got C1 and C3/DS (with the updates & patches on the Creatures Labs site) running that way. It's not my first choice, but it does let you run Creatures in a "Unity" window on your Mac desktop without having to boot to a different OS to get to it, so there's that. Everything seems to work fine so far, just a little slower than I'd really like sometimes. I'm using VMF version 3, but thinking about upgrading to 4 to see if it might be a little faster.

I am currently running the Kutoka's port on my OSX 10.6.8 machine, but it does need the patches that were formerly found at creature haven to run well. 8^(

Dang, that's what I thought. I know Lion dropped PPC support through Rosetta (and wrecked a bunch of my apps while it was at it), but it didn't occur to me that Creatures would be a Rosetta-supported application. Downgrading to Snow Leopard always looks more enticing.

Does C3/DS work on Snow Leopard?

If it's a rosetta app, it should, but I don't have a copy to test it on a SL computer. Anybody?

I tried to downgrade to SL to find out, but my MacBook Air won't run SL, so I'm stuck with using VMWare Fusion.

I have a MacBook Air with the latest OS also. Sounds like it's so difficult to get Creatures games working. Hrm.

It's kind of a pain, but it can be done. I resent being forced to use Windoze after finally making my break to Mac, but it seems to be the only option, for now.
