Right now, I'm trying to selectively breed some creatures in a pretty vague way, and I need some help doing this with something other than the power of observation. I found a need little tool called Breeder, where it has a list of all of your Creatures, different grouped columns that reflects some of their important biochemistry (including drives, receptors, etc) in a way that someone without a deep understanding of norn genetics can figure out. Overall, it seems like this tool would be perfect for breeding in (or out) certain traits that recur in a specific creature.
The issue is that this program only works with Creatures 3 and not DS/CS. If anyone is familiar with this program, is there any way to make it compatible with the latter? If not, are there any suggestions out there for a program that has similar functions? I have the Genetics Kits, but I want to look at specific norns (and all norns in a world, if possible) rather than a whole genome.
I want to create a C3 breed someday..

You could maybe use Jay-D's eggernator agent, if you're familiar with it, to save a specific creature's genome as an egg/genome file. Then you could use that file when you open up the genkit, so that you can look at that individual's genetic info and not just of a 'breed' as a whole. :3 Maybe give that a go and see if it pleases you.
EDIT: idk how you'd do that for all norns in a world though.. maybe just have a bunch of genkit windows open with each norn's genfile but there has to be a simpler way. xD

Gene Compare is a great program for C3/DS, where you can compare two genomes against one another. This is a great way to kind mutations between two different Norns! It's a bit limited in that you can only look at two genomes at once, but hopefully this is something that could be helpful. Good luck to you!

Gene Compare sounds cool, but the link didn't work for me. Is there another place to get it?

My fault: I added an extra bracket by accident. The link should work now, as should the download for the .zip file on the page. Sorry about that!

So, I'm sorry it took me about three months to reply to this question. Long story! Thanks for the information. Before finding this topic again, I had just downloaded the Gene Compare program, and I'm pretty anxious/excited about it. I'm having some serious issues with my Genetics Kit now, though. Am I wrong, or can you actually load a specific norn's genome rather than its species .gen into the kit? If so, that would solve some of my greater issues; however, I've taken it upon myself to try anyway, and it's telling me that the file exceeds the maximum limit of bytes. Has anyone else run into this? I've combed the internet and can't seem to find a match for the error message.
EDIT: Scratch that; it took me six months to reply. I suck.

I've run into it multiple times, and it seems to be an arbitrary limit CL coded into the Genetics Kit for some reason. I think it might be restricted to DS creatures, though - I've never had a C3 standalone creature's genome throw the error on me.
You're better off just looking at the genomes of specific creatures with Gene Compare or the Genetics Editor available from the same site as Gene Compare.
If you must use the Genetics Kit, though, you can try exporting the chosen creature and running its export file through REVELATION (the .genetics file can be changed to a .gen file that works with the Genetics kit). However, this method isn't a 100% reliable way to get a GK-friendly gen file.

Thanks, Grendel_Man. While poking around this forum, I found a handy link to German Creature's third-party Genetics Lab. It works excellent as a side-by-side tool for Gene Compare.
