Help Forum creatures 2 problem    Nornynorn      12/11/2011 Why when i run C2 it says :THE ERROR (DDERR_NODIRECTDRAWHW) HAS BEEN DETECTED WHEN ATTEMPTING TO DRAW GAME SPRITES. PLEASE CHECK THAT YOUR DESKTOP IS IN 16-BIT VIDEO MODE, MICROSOFT DIRECTX IS INSTALLED AND THAT YOU HAVE THE LATEST DRIVER SOFTWARE FOR YOUR GRAPHICS CARD. EXTRA INFORMATION: C : \PROGRAM FILES\CREATURES 2\IMAGES\CUT_,S16. WHAT DO I DO?????? MY PC HAS ALL THAT AND IS WINDOWS XP PRO   Ettina   12/11/2011 I don't know. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling it? By the way, I don't care if anyone steals my ideas for their own work, as long as you don't try to stop me from making my own stuff. Many ideas I mention are things I don't have the time or skill to actually do.   Nornynorn   12/12/2011 Yeah, gave that a go,and i doubt the "hit tool" would work. EDIT: i was not trying to shout, that was how the error appered   AquaShee   12/12/2011 Check if your display resolution is actually set to 16-bit colour depth. Most games these days require 32-bit so that's the standard setting on most computers. The option should be somewhere in the same place where you can change the resolution, somewhere in the dialog window you get when you right-click your desktop and choose the last option. I remember someone, somewhere, rather specifically detailing a problem involving C2 and DirectDraw, like certain graphics cards or versions of directx or something not supporting it, making C2 impossible to render. I can't seem to find the thread though, maybe I dreamed it up. Either way in all the previous threads on this error I could find, I can't find a suggested solution that actually worked. If you have six bucks to drop, you could try grabbing GoG Albian Years. I haven't seen anyone claim the same problem with that version yet.
