I had C3 on my mega gaming computer a while ago, but I downloaded a bad agent and had to uninstall it. Now I'm trying to reinstall it and it comes up and says something like 'setup.exe is unaccessable' and every time I try it makes itself a new setup.exe file on the disc. never opens. I've put it in compatibility mode as Windows XP Service Pack 2 and Run as Admin. but it still won't open the setup. Not even an error message! I have a disc, no online downloads. I am desperate to play C3 and I really need help here! I use stupid Windows 7, curse the day it was invented. >: (
The exact same thing happens with my C2 game disc, but it never worked on this computer. I used to have an XP, the dream computer for me, but it was trojaned to death.
I miss my creatures! Please help!
P.S. I would also like to start anew with C3, is there a way to get rid of everything I had on there before?
P.P.S. Docking Station complains I need to change to 16-bit mode. How do I get DS To run, too?
P.P.P.S. I'm sorry for all the post-scripts and questions! |

Well I'm not a very technical person, but I recently downloaded a version of Creatures Exodus (C3 and DS) from the website called GOG.com for only $6. It claims that it can work on Windows 7 when put into 32 or 16 bit mode. I myself have an XP, and I used to have loads of problems with my Creatures games until I tried that version. It has yet to break, and I think it actually does work on newer computers. They also have Creatures The Albian Years on there, which I personally didn't try, but since it also says it can work on newer computers, I would think it's at least worth giving a shot.
I do know that I can delete agents, so if you have a faulty one, just go to your agents folder and delete it. Of course, when I got my GOG Exodus, I did have to start afresh.
If Docking Station complains about 16 bit mode, try changing the color quality. On my XP, I just right click on my desktop to get to the "Properties" menu and go to "Settings", and I can change it there. I don't know about a Windows 7. I tried doing that on my mom's Windows 7 and could not find "Properties". But if you know where that is, then you can try doing that. The reason Docking Station complains about the 16 bit I believe, is because the color quality is too high, so you have to lower it.
I hope I helped a little. |

I got DS working now, but the server's down.
I found out how to change my resolution to 16-bit: run Creatures 2 and let it crash. IT somehow changes it automatically, and it stays like that until I restart the computer. |

Sorry to double post, but I must update you all!
I got both C2 and C3 to install, thanks to some tips at Discover Albia. The only problem so far is that C3 tells me there is "no registry for HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\CyberLife Technology\Creatures 3\Main Directory. -.- |
