GoG Creatures 2 Emergency Kit

The GOG release lacks an emergency kit, so every time C2 crashes, I have to start over.

It's a bit of a hassle to allways have to back upp my newborn Norns, as there is a limit to how many I can import back inn, when the world is getting full.
Allso, there are a lot of preperations that need to be done before the world can work well for the Norns, like getting the bats to eat the fungi patches (norns get hunger decrease from pushing them, so they learn pushing fruit is good when it isnt... This is one of the reasons why C2 Norns stop eating after a while)

Has any one found a way to get a functioning emergency kit for the gog release?

Hi Ygglens, welcome to the forums. :)

I have the GOG version too, and when I need to create a new world I just export and backup any creatures and COBs I want to keep, and then create a new world via the World Switcher (it pops up when you load C2; press the 'Create Game...' button)?

Tip: It helps to make regular backups of the World.sfc file in the 'My Documents' folder:

Documents\Creatures\Creatures 2

That way, if your game crashes, you can still return to an earlier version of your world.

I've also found that the Kits are replenished automatically when the stocks run out, and that you can re-stock the eggs using the in-game 'Advanced Hatchery Kit' (via the Hatchery window) so the game can still function without an Emergency Kit in that respect.

I hope all this helps!

as for getting them to eat, the popping mushrooms which the bats ignore, might be a big help as well as mrNstuff's More updates found here which contains an update for the norns to recognize Push-pull as eating

Thank for the help!

I am not having problems getting them to eat. Just saying that the badly scripted mushrooms is one of the factors that confuses the C2 Norns, and eventually makes them all messed upp ;)

After fiddeling around with the game for years, I'v managed to find a good deal of work arounds, so I can easily have a fully populated world with Norns that usually eat and sleep well, even with the updated genome that comes with the game, only by training them,.. No COBs that force them to do anything.

I'll start taking regular back upps of the world. Is World.sfc the only file I need to back upp? What about the .sfc file with the name of the world I have created?

You just backup the .SFC file you're currently using, so it would be the world you've created, yes. :)

Nice! Thanks for the help.

Allso, I have some old COBs that really fix a lot of dumb bugs in the game, that are no longer available on the internet.

Stuff like uppdating the bats, so they dont eat the shrooms (even though you really shouldnt have them in the worlds, unless some one fixes their script), fixes tomatoes and nuts so norns dont try to eat the ones that have bin eaten, uppdates the boats so creatures dont get trapped in them and so on... A lot of really usefull COBs! I even had one that fixed the two "wrap around" bugs, but I seem to have lost it... Znot made a lot of usefull COBs like that in his time, but most are lost, sadly.

Edit: You shouldnt have the shrooms in your world... The bats are ok.
