I'm hoping to start a little breeding project of C2 Ettins, mainly for a CCSF contribution. I was wondering if there are any updated genomes for C2 Ettins, sort of along the lines of the Canny or Akamai Canny Norns. I also would love to be able to hatch eggs up in the incubator area, rather than letting the Ettins hatch on their own near the volcano. It hasn't been too prosperous so far! Ha ha! Thanks so much for any help!

Ettin Eggs
Ettin Exports You can also get Nova Subterra Ettins on this page, but I have heard NS are terrible breeders so I wouldn't bother. |

Thanks so much: Exactly what I was looking for, and hoped existed! I doubt there's any chance that there are Canny Grendels out there... Although I might go on a search for those eventually, as well.
Thank you again!

Canny Grendels are also available on the second site. |

Call me blind, because I am. Ha ha! I missed that page entirely... A genius move. Thanks for pointing it out: This should make C2 a lot more enjoyable for me, since I rather like spending time with the other species.
Once again, I can't thank you enough! Perhaps these links will be helpful to anyone else looking to have some smarter Ettins and Grendels!
EDIT: Hmm, I can't seem to figure something out... I hatched the colored Ettins from the hatchery eggs, and also injected the Breedable Ettin COB. After they reached adolescence/youth, I noticed that their fertility increased and everything looked good. Unfortunately, no matter what happened, no one produced sex drive on their own. Even after multiple injections, no pregnancies have yet occurred.
Have I missed something completely? Just wondering how to get these adorable little Ettins to breed and go through the generations. I had two males and two females... And I'm completely perplexed.
Thanks again for any help!

I hatched a purple pair and they have no natural sex drive either. Short of gengineering, your best bet is to use the Sex it up Ettin COB from the BunchaStuff pack. I don't know what's in it besides sex drive, but it also runs the mate command. Of course, the subsequent generations will have the same problem. |

Sex it up ettin cob sound suspicious...
in the spring you gotta let the flowers fully blossom

I'd have a look at their genes, maybe they don't have one for producing sex drive or it doesn't work correctly? |

Why does it sound suspicious, Gumbo? It worked perfectly fine for my Ettins.
I'm a hardcore christian first, and a creature breeder second.

Ah-ha! After a lot of digging around and trying to solve this mystery, I'm fairly certain I found the issue! I hatched a female, and she began to produce sex drive naturally a little bit into adolescence. Thank goodness these Ettins age pretty quickly!
It's a fairly easy fix, although not very intuitive. In the genome I used, gene #300 was the culprit. This is the chemical emitter for the species pheramone. To make a long story short, it was set to Ettin Smell. Changing this to Species Pheramone seemed to do the trick! I imagine it might be possible to use Ettin Smell, but this would involve changes to a few genes. This seemed like the easiest fix... For now!
Definitely going to test this further, but for anyone who seems to be having the same issue, perhaps this will help create a natural breeding solution!
I would offer to share the updated genome, but since it's based off of someone's work, I'm pretty sure I can't.
Yes! So excited I figured this out: A little more testing should reveal if I've solved it completely, or if it was just a lucky coincidence.

Perhaps share a mated pair of ettins which have the corrected genome as a base?

Sounds like a great idea, Malkin! Once I get all settled in this weekend, I plan on having a wonderful feral/wolfing run... Or I might be a little more involved! I'll be submitting at least a pair for the CCSF: Combined with the Canny genome, the colored Ettins are very nice to have in C2!

Thanks, Malkin! Hopefully they enjoy life in whatever C2 worlds they find themselves in: Perhaps they'll have a better relationship than the rel Engywook and Urgl from The Neverending Story! Ha ha!
