Testing sprites?

Hey everyone. :D

I was wondering something...how does one test out (norn) sprites made in the SpriteBuilder in-game? I was thinking that creating and injecting a new norn into the game using the c3 genkit might work, but I don't have docking station so I can't use it as of yet. ...I'm not entirely sure if that works, anyway. ^^' So, how exactly would I go about doing this? I would really appreciate any help. :3

You could create a genome, and an egg agent and use the egg layer. Or you can switch out the files on an existing breed and at least get a look-see.

Make sure you made the norn sprite properly, If you just drew a norn and put it in spritebuilder it isn't going to work.

Spritebuilding norns is complex and takes a long time, you have to have all of the movable body parts drawn and make versions of them facing the other directions.

In addition, its even harder work just to do the norns expressions, its optional to do expressions, but don't test it on an expressive breed then.

You will even have to make a backwards faced version and a front faced version of the body parts, It takes an awful lot of work.

Also I'm pretty sure the creatures 3 gen kit works if you use DS standalone

that depend on how you mean?

I take it as you maybe started to try draw/make your'e own sprite for a norn - if that case it can be quite simple - you can open up a srpite file via spritebuilder - example you made a head sprite (but haven't done all of them) you can still load the chichi norn head set and paste in your'e own made sprites you made so far over the similar chichi ones then save it as your'e own via choosen breed slot,
not save as overwrite the chichi sprite, thought ^^'

I did that once with my bat norns -
just to see how the arms worked and afterall I burrowed a hebbe norn sprite with just a few frames where my bat wings - I still saved it as my own breed slot, as I was going to add more of my own images to make it completely as the bat norn sprite and no more a hebbe with a few arm sprites...

Hopefuly what I said is not too confussing.

It's just one way you could do it - just if you want to have a quick look...

but if that wasn't what you meant..then Im not sure O.o

Thanks guys. ^_^ That actually is exactly what I meant, so this should help a lot! There was some good advice there that I'll take into account too, and then hopefully it'll work out. Thanks again :3
