c1 crashes

I've a problem with my c1. Everytime I start it up, a few seconds later there comes a message with the text:

C1 doesn't work anymore. You can search online to a solution.

Then I can click at Search to an solution or Close the program.
(Maybe someone who had the same problem once recognizes this?)

But anyway, if I click at search then I have to wait a while and it look like the program really search for something, but then it closes itself.
And the problem isn't resolved.

I don't know what to do and can't play it anymore. Maybe someone could help me?

I'm pretty sure C1 had a program attached that allowed you to attempt to fix your world, restart your world and reset the incubator. It doens't appear to be included in the GoG versions of the game however.

If you're using the GoG version, my next suggestion would be a reinstall. Hopefully you don't have a whole heap of Norns in your world :(

Are you using the original Creatures 1, The Albian Years, or GOG's The Albian Years, Shelley? It helps us to help you if you provide as many details about your problem as possible. :)

I do know that, although the Emergency Kit that comes with GOG's version of The Albian Years doesn't let you, you can start a new world by going to 'My Computer' (make sure that your game is no longer running, and that you've backed up any Norns or COBs you want to keep first!) and accessing the main directory - Program Files/GOG.com/Creatures Albian Years/Creatures 1. In there you should find a file called 'World.sfc'. Delete that file, and then find another file in there called 'Eden.sfc'. Make a copy of that file and rename it to World.sfc.

If that works, when you go to start up Creatures 1 again your world should be as good as new.

I've buyed the game some years ago when I was little:$somewhere when the game was available for the first time and it is still in the original case, maybe that could help you as more details?

What I can do is go to Program Files/Gameware Development/Creatures Albian Years/Creatures 1 and then I see World.sfc. Do I have to do the same as you discribes if I did it through GoG.com and delete that file (World.sfc) still?

If you're using the original 'Creatures: The Albian Years' (by Gameware, not GOG.com) then you should be able to create a new world using the Emergency Kit. In this version the Emergency Kit has been renamed 'Backup' and can be found in your main Creatures 1 directory:

Program Files/Gameware Development/Creatures Albian Years/Creatures 1

You will then see a dialogue box which asks you to ensure that Creatures is no longer running, click OK. You should now see the Emergency Kit. Click the button which says, 'New World'. Now, when you restart Creatures 1, your world should be brand new. Be sure to export any Norns and backup any COBs you don't wish to lose first!

Let us know if that works or not. :)
