Pacing Disorder

This is something I've always noted throughout my entire time of playing docking station. This even holds true for the CFE norns.

I notice that sometimes, in some metarooms (most notably The Burrows) my norns will get stuck pacing. They will walk a certain number of steps one way, then turn and walk the other direction the same number of steps, then turn and do it again. They get stuck in a constant loop, often either unable to get to a lift so as to distract themselves or outright ignoring the lift. A few smacks to the bottom gets them out of the loop, but I'm worried about how this will affect wolfing runs.

Note that this appears in first generation norns, so it's not a mutation by any standard.

My question is, what causes this? Is this supposed to be happening? Is there a way to get rid of it?

Do not upset the ugly worm, lest it be a dragon in disguise. (>oo)>

I believe the cause is that the norns are trying to find food by following Fat/Starch/Protein CA. The places where they're pacing is where the highest concentrations of these CAs are.

Basically, they're looking for food but can't find it, and their brains are wired in such a manner that they believe they'll find it where it smells the most.

I don't think there's a way to get rid of it, sadly. :/

Yeah... That's mostly all you can do.. You have to put objects that randomly vends food/fruit/seeds to your norns in the places were the pacing happens... I would sugest the wolfing run dispenser.. you just put it where it usualy happens and it vends food whenever a hungry norn walks by! Also you can choose wich type of food it vends.

Food Fruit or seed it will vend it!

Thats the way I fixed it!

Norns aren't especially advanced, but they're also limited by the world they live in, and if there's rooms that don't handle the CAs properly, it's not the poor norns' fault they get confused. :P

What I tend to do is shower my norns in food sometimes with ctrl e, maybe that's leaving residue CA?
