Today, I finally got the baby Grendel sprites to install properly into GOG's C1. With that small hiccup taken care of, there is one more thing that bothers me about the game: the object injector.
I loathe the one that's included with GOG's C1. It feels too awkward to use, and it doesn't help that one can't use .RCBs with it.
Thus, I am wondering if there's any way to restore the original (and much nicer) object injector to GOG's C1. I tried using the Injector Update from Gameware's site, but that...didn't work, to say the least.
If it helps any, I'm running the game on Windows Vista.

I don't know of any way to get the original back.
Why didn't the injector update work?
Do you have the remastered patch?

I'm not sure the old one would properly interface with the engine (hence them building a new one) but I don't know too much about the GOG versions. Perhaps someone on the GOG Forums will know. If worse comes to worse, you can always make COB versions of the most vital removers. |

I'm assuming this is the same, old/early version of the C1 Object Injector that's in Albian Years. I don't know why they chose to use that one instead of the newer version (the one you refer to as "the original", which introduced the .rcb files). The update won't work because it doesn't understand the file structure of Albian Years, and certainly not the GOG version, I imagine. The remastered patch didn't help with that in my Albian Years... (I have the original C1 and C2 installed on a virtual machine running Win2k instead.) |

In other words, I'm stuck with the version in the Albian Years/GOG C1? That sort of sucks.
I'm pretty sure I had the Remastered Patch installed when I tried changing the Injector.
In any event, I figured out that one can still use the .rcbs by typing in ".rcb" after the actual name of the COB file. It doesn't help that the current Object Injector is still much more clunky than the version included with, say, the Creatures Trilogy C1 (the one I'm used to using).

I believe I once got the Object Injector to change by applying both the Injector update and the Creatures .exe update. |
