| Gameware Development Attack? | |

I know topics by extreme newbies are probably suspicious, but I couldn't find any news about this, so I wanted to see what was going on.
I was trying to introduce a friend to Docking Station last night, so I went to the Gameware Development site to point him in the right direction. However, Google has listed it as an attack site that downloads malicious software... Firefox confirms this.
Does anybody have any information? I'm kind of worried about creating new worlds in Docking Station now that this is the case.

There's nothing suspicious about newbies, we all are at some point. Welcome to the forum!
I don't know what the deal is with Gameware, Avast even gives me warnings that it is a malicious site and blocks it when I try to go there. It may be linked to the fact that GW recently changed domains, but I'm not sure anybody knows why this is happening yet. It is a fairly recent (just in the past month or so) development.
I guess for now, I would recommend pointing your friend to Amber Creatures, which is a fansite but has the latest version of DS available for download. And it's definitely not malicious!

Its just that Gameware have been moving servers, so not everything is fully linked up in the new location yet sadly.

How would that explain the fact that people keep getting warnings from all kinds of places (Google, Firefox, Avast) that it is malicious?

Probably something suspicious is hosted on the same server as the Creature Labs site. They have Shared Hosting now so they are using a server which is "leased" to multiple users.

The Google thingy that detects malicious sits probably checks for consistently broken links, or many links pointing to another domain, because they can be a sign of a website intended to deceive the visitor.

Why can't we all just accept the fact that Gameware Development is an attack site?
Hehehe... No seriously, FireFox yells at me when I try to go there also. |

Yeah-I checked the Google diagnostic page, and it says that there are domains connected with it that download malicious software, and it also says that four pages on the site would download said software, and the network it was hosted on also had sites that downloaded malicious software.
It may be just a technicality that Gameware Development would be listed, but still, I don't wanna take my chances.
But thank you for the warm welcome, Ghosthande. I know there are mirrors for DS, but I don't want him to have to register personal information on a site that may be using it for nefarious purposes. I could always just point him to a C12DS download so he could play offline, but a part of me wants him to register so I can bombard him with Norns to annoy him. :p

GamewareDevelopment.com isn't listed as an attack site by Google. Your friend can register safely there.

Oh, I recently downloaded some Norns from Gameware Development's site, I'll be more exactly, before about 5 days. Does it mean that my computer is infected? It's sad to hear that Gameware Development's site installs malware.

gamewaredevelopment.co.uk is probably only listed as an attack site because all their pages redirect to the gamewaredevelopment.com page, Gameware's new address.

Oooh, that's a relief. I've sent him the registration information and he'll be getting an account soon! Thanks Malkin.

@Malkin It's not because they are now linking to the new address, defunct/multiple addresses are normal in a website's life.
Probably it's because they have old expired links somewhere (e.g. their press, blog) which are now used by ad/spyware sites.
