I know this isn't Creatures related, but can someone please help me? The micro mouse I use for my Acer Laptop has been acting a bit funny lately- sometimes when I click using either the right or left mouse buttons nothing happens, and it is really annoying me. I wouldn't consider buying a new USB mouse, as they are an absolute rip-off in my opinion. |

I'm experiencing that too on my (not-multiboot) Ubuntu operating system. I have a Acer laptop, but I don't think it's Acer's fault. After all I use the touch-pad to solve the problem. Are you using a Logitech mouse?

Do you have the latest drivers for your mouse installed?

I don't think that it's needed to update the drivers because every mouse uses generic drivers built-in the OS. Mouses with extra features also use generic drivers, sometimes with a driver from the manufacturer which is just a extension for the generic drivers.
I think it's just a problem with the receiver for the wireless mouse, that it doesn't know after long use of the mouse when the mouse buttons pressed or not.

Getting the latest drivers is an easy check/step. There's only that and the mouse options within the Control Panel (for whichever OS) that can easily be used to change the setup, and if it was a configuration issue then the mouse buttons would never work. Plus bad drivers can produce all sorts of glitches.
After that you pretty much have to declare the mouse (or its batteries for a wireless) dead, so its worth a shot.
I use a wireless mouse myself, have done for many many years, and its never had any problems.

I could use the mouse I used to use for my desktop, but there are two problems:
1. It's not a USB mouse
2. It uses a ball, and isn't as good as my Micro Mouse. |

I have the same problem with my mouse sometimes, I usually fix it by dissecting it, cleaning it, and jamming the buttons back into place a few times
wh..how is a USB mouse a ripoff though? what's the alternative, a serial trackball? PS/2 which was deprecated years ago? |

I am no longer suffering from mouse problems, as my dad went out and bought one. Please lock this topic. |

There's no need to lock it - we'll just let it sink to the bottom. That's good that you've got a new mouse, hopefully it won't give you any problems! |
