I open C2 and I get these errors.
The error [DDERR_INVALIDPARAMS] has been detected when attempting to draw game sprites. Please check that your desktop is in 16-bit video mode, Microsoft DirectX is correctly installed and that you have the latest driver software for your graphics card. Extra information: C Program Files\Creatures 2\Images\syst.S16
I click ok then I get this.
Runtime Error! Program: C PROGRA~1\CREATU~4\CREATU~1.EXE This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information
Help please?
Edit: I get it for C2 and The Albian Years. |

What Operating System are you using? Creatures 2 won't work on Windows 7 or Vista. |

Hi TheNornGuardian,
Right click on Creatures2.exe and select Properties, click on the Compatibility tab, and unselect the checkbox "Run this program in compatibility mode for..." it it is checked, then click Apply.
If its not checked then let us know.

@Don
It wasn't checked, but then I checked it for XP, did I do it right?
Thanks so much! I'm about to try it now!
ETA: Didn't work. Same two errors
@Malkin

Have you updated DirectX since you last played it?
Some early releases of Vista still used DirectX 9 or older, and they ran C2, but newer releases use DirectX 10 and up, and C2 will not play on these. If you've upgraded DirectX (or installed a game or program that updated DirectX), you will not be able to play C2. |

Aww, That error is often caused by compatibility mode being active on a file when it should be..
Have you checked you're using 16 bit colours? Right click on the Desktop, Properties, Click on the last tab and check the colours are set to 16 bit and not the full 32 bit.
