So, I wanted to restart with C1 and have a brand new world, but when I used the Emergency kit (Backup.exe in Albian Years) it gave me the same creatures (I had a few Grendels via the Genetics Kit) and the same cobs.
So I uninstalled and reinstalled the game. This led to some problems, particularly one saying ove2.spr was missing. I fortunately saved all the files the game couldn't get rid of when I uninstalled it so I copied and pasted it back to the Images folder. This didn't solve the problem, as it said the game still could not start.
So I copied and pasted all the images and body data files I had from before back into the folders. I started the game and it worked this time, but was still giving me the same creatures and cobs. I wanted to start fresh with cobs so a lot of them haven't been installed.
Does anyone have any idea how I can get the game to completely restart without all the old cobs and creatures since uninstalling didn't go so well?
P.S. Hope this wasn't too confusing... |

Have you tried any of the suggestions in this thread? I'm sorry, but I don't personally have experience with Albian Years, so hopefully you'll be able to glean more from that thread. :/

You could try the revo uninstaller, you can uninstall anything completely. It tracks down files that don't get uninstalled in your regular uninstaller.

Thanks for the replies! I fixed the problem, but I don't really know how I did anything different this time... This time I uninstalled, deleted the folders in My Documents, and reinstalled. Last time, I uninstalled, moved the files in My Documents to another folder there (in case I needed them for some reason), and then reinstalled. I guess the game still found the folders and files in My Documents after I moved them? I dunno.
But thanks for that thread, Malkin! Should come in handy if I ever need to do this again. And thanks for the link, Melody! That might come in handy in the future too. |
