I thought we could have a place for questions to do with genetics specifically
I actually have a questions:
In creatures 2 some things can affect the chances of mutation e.g. radiation! But how does this work? If a mother and father are exposed before the child is conceived does that have an effect? Or is it only when the female is actually pregnant?
If you don't have a clue I would still like to hear any theories

For the first part of your question on how radiation mutates dna, here's how it happens:
Nuclear radiation comes in vibrating, really low frequency waves, and it can fracture the nucleotides in a dna strand. If you didn't know, nucleotides are the interlocking pieces (G, T, C, and A) that hold the dna's sides together. Normally, because of their shapes, G only matches up with C, and T only matches up with A. But if they break because of radiation, they can get chipped into the shape of another nucleotide quite easily, and match up with it instead. This is when a mutation occurs.
To answer the second part, yes, a baby can have mutated dna even if its parent(s) were exposed to radiation at any time in their lives. So if one or both parents are exposed to radiation and their dna is altered, then later they conceive a child, that child has a good chance of having mutant dna as well.
Hope that helped ;D

Cool! You know a lot!
But I was wondering how it worked in C2?

Oh, well if you have a c2 genetics kit, maybe you can find a reaction gene that involves heavy metals? Maybe tinker with it and see how it works. Honestly I don't know either. But I think that if a mutation's going on in c2 then it has to have a reaction gene, and it has to have radiation which is heavy metals...but other than that, I'm not too clear on it.
