Help Forum DS Won't Work    LoverIan      12/20/2009 I tried playing DS, well, it said a new version/update was available, and, I clicked install, choosing to install the update.... Sadly it stopped down, when it came to the file 'file_list_splash.txt.partial Partial file', and it won't update, and, when I click the file, it won't work! Though, before I do that, any 2nd opinions? beep   AquaShee   12/21/2009 Copy the My Agents folder and Catalogue folders, you'll be fine if you hang on to those and put them back later. Unless you downloaded some other very specific stuff that's more complicated. Not everything, but a large amount. I'm going to begin the process! EDIT: And Genetics, My Creatures, and, I think that's it. EDIT: How do I uninstall? beep   christine   12/21/2009 pst... iirc DS leaves your norns, agents, and worlds intact when it uninstalls... it just uninstalls the files that come with the game. to uninstall on windows, go to control panel, go to add/remove programs, find docking station, and click remove. EDIT: WAAAH! No, it's asking me if I want the latest version of DS again! The name is complicated and too long, so it's going to be hard to complete it. Also, it says that, if I start the download, I won't be able to play the game until it completes. Should I try downloading/installing it? EDIT: DOUBLE WAAAAH! It seems I now miss several boot strap files, sound files, and, whenever I try to make a new world, I can make it, but, whenever I try to play, I get a black ds screen, all that is there is the background of the login page, and I cannot play it! beep   Lollipop Lord C-Rex     12/23/2009 Have you tried reinstalling it and running "Engine.exe" from the Docking Station directory?   LoverIan   12/26/2009 I reinstalled it, I'll try that. UPDATE: Cannot fine engine.exe in CProgram Files\Docking Station Found file names: Engine (file not specified) engine.map (MAP file) engine-netbabel.dll (File not specified) engine-netbabel.map (MAP file) Where do I go from here? EDIT: Also, my docking station won't respond anymore... beep   scoota94   2/20/2010 Why don't you make a copy of all the folders with your stuff, genetics, catalogue, and body data etc. Then completely remove DS and then reinstall it... Then copy the folders back again If it still doesn't work then I'm afraid you may have to completely remove DS from your computer, and I mean 100% removal to ensure proper functioning... Do you think an agent or breed you downloaded is incompatiable with the latest update? Don't be worried about who is right, Just follow you heart...   ratkinzluver33   2/26/2010 This has happened to me except without the partial file stuff.. or was it... I can't remember. Oh, and I may need to say, that my agents, were compatible before, as they did not have problems, and i didn't update. This would be my second time uninstalling and then reinstalling. beep   Don     2/27/2010 If you still have the original CD/installer I'd recommend reinstalling the game over the top and forgetting about the upgrade option as there shouldn't be any upgades available.
