I've noticed that many Creatures users often make a copy of a favorite norn and when the norn dies that just import the copy. Doesn't this seem to violate the Norns sacred traditions? Virtual necromancy! Stop the offences of the practice of electronic black arts! Just a random thought, and I that it deserved a place on the Strangeo forum. I'm obviously kidding. |

Until one of my many, many clones outright complains to me, I'm not going to stop.
You have to be honest with yourself when you are writing. If that leads to somewhere unexpected then perhaps you really needed to go there.

Why do you dislike us? We just found a way to keep our favourite Creatures forever. When you have a cute Norn or an incredible Grendel, why not save it? ![[evil] [evil]](/images/smilies/evil.gif)
And what do you mean with Necromancer? We are more... we are NecroMANIACS! ![[devil] [devil]](/images/smilies/devil.gif)

Have you no thought for the Norns souls, you Necromaniac? By the way, -mancer is a suffix added to the end of a word meaning a user of magic. Thus Necromancer means a magic user of death. And pyromancer means a magic user of fire, ect...... |

Sorry! Necromancer is normally used as a masculine term, maybe femnine is necromancerette. Although that sounds really dumb. Sorry about the gender confusion. |

It's ok. You're not the first person to think I'm a guy, and I'm sure you won't be the last. I had no idea "necromancer" implied a gender.

The -er I believe implies masculinity, and I I think that -ess implies femininity. I could be wrong though. Also I don't think there is a female necromancer, I believe that's called a witch, or a medium. |

I import a zillion clones of this one Norn I made and do various things to them in an attempt to find new ways to kill Norns. o___o
R.I.P. Bobby Fry numbers 21, 17, 86...

I used multiple torture methods on the same creature once. It's always perplexed me that he survived them all, and only in the moment that I decided to give him a break did he up and die.
Out of curiosity, why'd you give him a surname?

I always find that interesting too. I mean, I injected a lot of deadly chemicals into this one Bobby Fry clone I made for about twenty minutes straight, and while I retrieve a snack for myself he dies (again).
Actually, I gave him a surname because it was that day I discovered that it was possible to have a space in a creature's name. Since then, I've almost always given a last name to my Norns (Tatl Tael), ridiculous last names for my Grendels (Grah Ooglefeet), and titles for my Ettins (Elric the Bold).
That, and plain "Bobby" is boring.

I agree that plain names are boring, but really only when using names like "Bobby". I like trying to make names that reflect the personality and type of the norn. |

Ah, I see. I can't remember when I discovered that tidbit, but I've apparently been putting spaces in various norns' names since C1.
I've only ever given one norn a last name. I imagine he still hates me for it. :p But seriously, I'm not quite sure why I never do it more often (it would be a nifty way to keep track of "families" at a glance) except that I have a hard time thinking of pets with surnames. I can't even think of my family's cats as sharing our last name without thinking it's odd.

This is an interesting topic. ^_^ With my Norns I usually just let them go peacefully. I have tried re-importing a saved copy of them before but it sort of doesn't feel the same to me. I know it's the same Norn but they're kind of different somehow to my original first one. They might do something different or have other experiences my first Norn wouldn't have had. Um, it's hard for me to explain but I feel like a clone of them is actually a different creature, yet with the same information making them up...
I'm back after 11 years. Holy dooley! |

I actually do that for fun. XD And I'm usually more creative when it comes to naming Norns, but I wanted to call him something stupid and "Bobby Fry" seemed to fit the bill. >.>'

I use the Supernamer for such things.
When I want to give them funny names I wait with teach them speaking and they get as name the first thing they say. So I already had the grendels "Fig Grah" "Graaah" "Grndl Narg" and "Groh"
Once I looked much for my Norn "Bub Coo" he lived in my Genetic Wonderworld and was so quite special XD

It would be quite useful to have norn families. No cross-species breeding, a dream come true. Don't you just hate when you have the norn with a butterfly head and zebra body? That's only an example of course. |

Crossbreeding is not always bad. The right combination of breeds is the art.
I like it for example to mix similar colored breeds like Siamese + Fallow + Bruin or Bengal + Magma (maybe also a touch Fire).
Draconian + Toxic + Banshee grendel looks also good. (sadly they are too different, so I "mixed" them with GeneLab ^^)
A bad combination of breeds is of course pretty stupid. Imagine a Dream + Draconian norn. Who wants to have a fluffy slider dragon?
