Sorry I haven't been on lately... the last few weeks of summer have been outrageously cluttered, to say the least. x_x My older brother had a wedding to prepare for, then I had to be a bridesmaid in the actual wedding, then I had to apply for 8th Grade homeschool... the list goes on and on.
But when I checked the calendar this morning, I practically leaped for joy.
WOOHOO!
Today I have turned the age of THIRTEEN!

Gryph: xD You need to go through a long parent-teacher meeting, talking about what "skills" I have and need to work on, and all that other jazz.
It feels kind of scary to think that I'm a teenager now. But it's also pretty exhilarating in it's own weird way. :3
Thanks, everybody!

Congrats Dreamnorn! Happy birthday! Have cake and all that good stuff! *throws confetti*
Actually, parents are required to have attended a class in order to homeschool (at least in our state) so that they will have what it takes to be a decent teacher, so that they know how to teach kids the right way, etc. Then the kids just take a yearly test to prove they are up to speed on all their subjects. Parents have to go to the local school and re-apply for homeschooling at the beginning of each year, and they come back with a certificate showing that the local school recognizes that the kid is actually being homeschooled and isn't just lounging around the house doing nothing. That way if their crappy neighbors call the cops on them for "neglecting" their kids--because some people just can't get it into their heads that homeschooling can be a good thing--the parents will have proof that, yes, the child is learing, and yes, they are at the same level as the other kids their age.

Ah, I remember when I was 13. I desperately wanted to be 14, because I thought that was the age when you suddenly became an intelligent, mature being with boyfriends.
Well, now I'm 14. None of that has happened yet, and I desperately want to be 15. Bleh.
