COLORADO ROCKIES!!

they're the team i grew up with, back when i was a little kid my dad used to take me 15-20 times a season to see them and i loved them sooooo much. back in their power heyday in the 1990s, with players like galarraga, walker, castilla, bichette... yeah, the blake street bombers. i have to admit it's been disappointing to watch them lose year after year... til this year anyway...

this year has been one heck of a ride for the rocks and they're STILL GOING! if you follow the NL they're the biggest underdogs and also have the most momentum coming into the post season.

some amazing things:

coming into september they were 73-72, and coming into october they're 90-73.
they've won 16 of their last 17 games. only two teams have ever had streaks like that and both went to the world series.
they rallied in the 13th of the NL wildcard tiebreaker for not only the spot in the playoffs but the most amazing baseball inning ever.
they beat the phillies at home yesterday 4-2.
matt holliday is GOING TO BE the MVP.
their pitcher, jeff francis, struck out three of the phillies best pitchers in 11 at bats.

all this for a team that went to the playoffs once in 1995 and then only won one game there. and they're so damn adorable. todd helton gave an interview after the tie breaker where he was like... "i have no idea how we got here." it is so cute.

i hate to jump ahead of myself but i think it's really plausible we'll be going to the WS. i'm keeping my fingers crossed.

also, going to see their first NLDS home game against the phils saturday! i'm super pumped. if you can't tell, i really love baseball a lot, and i really love my rockies. GO ROCKS!!!!
