* angel51431 is about the greatest .. and very right.
* Even though some caterpillars take less than a year to become a moth, a certain Hepialid from the Indo-Austrailian area takes up to 5 years of Caterpillar life to pupate into a moth! Imagine the patience of keeping one. .
* That even though most people who run into moths consider them all the same, there are more than 80,000 kinds in the world - And only a little more than 10,000 butterflies? Moths rule . .
* That there is only one moth species in the USA that "eats" clothing (Blame the Europeans), - Because, it is often a beetle that causes household damage.
* That too many people spell "Velociraptor " wrong? Amazing.
* Also, there are more than 4 different Theropods larger and 'better' than the Tyrannosaurus rex OR bataar - And still, schools teach from stuff obviously older than 1991?

did you know that in order for terriers to have a hard wiry coat, it needs to be hand stripped - or plucked out?
bet you didn't.
did you know that grey (dilute) dogs are born striped like watermelons, and later turn into a solid blue colour?
Did you know that the Dandie Dinmot Terrier is the only breed named after a fictional character?
did you know that small dogs are prone to luxating patellas, or loose kneecaps?
did you know that avocadoes, grapes and raisins are toxic to dogs?
Did you know that large dogs are prone to hip dysplasia, where the "ball" of the femur degenerates and does not fit into the socket of the hip?
Did you know that small dogs tend to live to 13+ years, whereas the biggest dogs rarely live past 9 years?
Did you know that striped dogs are called Brindle? That brown (self-coloured) dogs are usually called Liver? That lots of tiny spots is called "ticking" but when the dog is covered in them its called "roan"? That when a dog has tuxedo markings, they are considered "Irish marked"? That a dog that is more than 50% white is called piebald? A spotted pattern of blue and dark blue (or red and dark red) is generally called Merle. In dachshunds the same pattern is called Dapple. In Beaucerons it is called Harlequin.
Beaucerons, Briards and Great Pyrenees are required to have a double dewclaw on their hind legs.
The Komondor, Puli, Havanese, and Bergamasco have hair that naturally forms cords - dreadlocks.

Here's another amazing fact...
The most logical reason for Dinosaurs to have gone extinct is for a catastrophic colision with a meteor 65 million years ago... and scientists have proof!
We've found signs that not only Dinosaurs died quite suddenly 65 million years ago, but about two-thirds of all life on Earth!
Scientists have found a subterranian crater that has been made by something with the diameter of 100km! That means that, when the meteor hit the ground, it was like firing about 100 Hydrogen Bombs at once! And the crater was dated to be-- surprise!-- 65 million years old!
This is an amazing discovery, pointing out the most probable answer to the mystery that's haunted us for a long time.

did you know that... Jack Russel Terriers have been officially considered Parson Russel Terriers by the AKC for like four years now?
Did you know that there are two distinct types of them? Parson Russel being a square dog with long legs and button ears, and Jack Russell being a long dog on short legs, and usually upright ears. The Parson comes in a smooth coat, wire coat, and a "broken" coat, and a Jack Russell is usually always smooth. They're different types of the same breed that diverged dramatically
Did you know that there are distinct differences between "bench" (show) and "field" (hunting) sporting dogs? Labradors, goldens, springers, setters all have very different types between the show dogs and the hunting dogs. Still considered the same breeds, but the types are so different and never interbred, so that they might as well not be.
did you know that Australian shepherds were developed in California?

I'm challenging your rat facts. Get them straight, man.
First of all, from first hand experience I'll tell you that rats certainly do eat meat, and pretty much any meat you give them. they also eat meat products such as dog food. I never fed mine dead rat. that's called scavanging.
btw why are dead rats any more gross than some other dead animal?
also.
other animals (such as cats and dogs) are not *allergic* to chocolate. Chocolate is toxic (ie poisonous) to them. It has nothing to do with histamines. It has to do with toxic chemical buildup in the liver after digestion, i believe. Rats are able to digest the chocolate without succumbing to the chemical products in the end.

Did you know the 20 precepts of Gichin Funakoshi are as follows:
Karate is not only dojo training.
Don't forget that Karate begins with a bow and ends with a bow.
In Karate, never attack first.
One who practices Karate must follow the way of justice
First you must know yourself. Then you can know others.
Spiritual development is paramount; technical skills are merely means to the end.
You must release your mind.
Misfortune comes out of laziness.
Karate is a lifelong training.
Put your everyday living into karate and you will find "myo" (the subtle secrets, the ideal state of existence, exquisite beauty).
Karate is like hot water. If you do not give heat constantly it will again become cold.
Do not think you have to win. Think that you do not have to lose.
Victory depends on your ability to tell vulnerable points from invulnerable ones.
Move according to your opponent.
Consider your opponent's hands and legs as you would sharp swords.
When you leave home, think that millions of opponents are waiting for you.
Ready position for beginners and natural position for advanced students.
Kata is one thing. Engaging in a real fight is another.
Do not forget to correctly apply: light and heavy application of power, expansion and contraction of the body, and slowness and speed of techniques.
Devise at all times.
And Lastly this statement is probably one you should remember if you ever do study Karate, especially shotokan:
Master Funakoshi says it is not the best karate man that can defeat 10 people. The best karate man is one who avoids conflict to start with.
Not really active around these parts anymore. |
