I'm wondering... what scares you all or makes you uncomfortable? Here's my list from the top of my head. It's extensive. XD
*Heights- I only recently discovered this one, though it explains a lot looking back through the years. I've no idea where it comes from, and I've done work to tame it. It's instinctual, because although I'm not really afraid and I know I'm okay, my legs lock up, my breathing goes wonky... it seems I'm more likely to fall because of my fear!
*Needles- I am clinically vasovagal trypanophobic, which, basically, means my fear is so extreme the symptoms can actually put me in danger.
*Poisonous spiders- related to above; specifically, fiddleback/brown-recluse spiders, which happen to live in my house. I'm fine around tarantulas and other spiders.
*Escalators- various reasons; involves a story I don't wanna tell. XD
*Space invasion- no, not that kind. It's people standing too near behind me, or, oddly, leaning over while I'm sitting. It doesn't scare me, but it makes me extremely anxious and uncomfortable.
*Electricity- This particular fear and my reactions are very interesting to me. The few times someone tried to get me to plug in one of the heavy-duty circuits when I was a stagehand, I was literally incapable of making my hands stay around them long enough to plug them together. One time I was almost moved to tears because I couldn't do this rather simple task even with the power off.
These are the major ones... there's also stuff like unshaded windows when it's dark outside and getting stinky stuff like mustard on my hands. Maybe I should ask- what is the oddest thing that frightens you?
(Not that I'm, like, gonna hunt you down and use it or anything... I'm just curious! ) |

Biggest fears:
Needles.
Bees/Wasps/Hornets. (I'm afraid of almost no other animal. Why something so small?)
Anything undead. (I know they're not real, but still, seeing them in a video game or movie gives me nightmares.)
Being stared at for longer than eight seconds.
Vomiting.
Vertically tight spaces. (I can squeeze through a narrow passage just fine, but something like a crawlspace makes me hyperventilate.)
Speaking publicly.
Things flying directly at me at high speeds. (No wonder I failed Phyiscal Education.)
Extremely tall people, like in excess of six foot ten. I just feel really intimidated.

Vomiting, most of all . I find it...exmly...unpleasant.
Bugs of all kinds. Well, I'm not really afraid of them, I just hate them.
Elevators...what if they were to break down all of a sudden!?
Things coming at my face (very fast).
Fireworks. They are just pointless to me. And they make my heartbeat go all wild-like once they are set off. T_T |

These are the sensible ones:
Heights. Deep water. Earthquakes.
OMG, I hate earthquakes!!!
And I'm also claustrophobic. Of both people and small spaces.
The not so sensible ones:
Lawnmowers! Windows at night without curtains. Balls flying towards me, soccer balls in particular. Grrrrr! |

Vomiting and nausea - I suffer from Emetophobia, which means I have an irrational fear of myself, and other people vomiting. For me it's just the last few moments before *it* happens and loss of control I don't like. I let it take control of and influence my daily life (what I eat and what I do) and I shouldn't. Same goes for nausea, because it may lead to vomiting. More often than not I'll feel nauseous everyday, not because I'm ill, but because of my own doing. Usually I feel nauseous because of nerves and anxiety over actually being sick. And anything can set it off - worries over food I've eaten, seeing vomit on TV, if someone in my house is ill, even if my stomach gurgles. It's ridiculous really, but it's so hard to be logical about it.
Hospitals - see above.
Escalators - because there's always the fear that I'll lose my balance and fall down on one, especially as my balance and gait isn't that great to begin with. My year/grade 11 science teacher died that way. There's a particularly nasty one at the London Bridge underground station. It's very steep and very long and I have to endure it everytime I have a hospital appointment. I have to hold onto my Dad for dear life.
Daddy Long Legs - those evil looking things, that fly out at you from behind lampshades and scare the living snot out of you. To me they're spiders with wings. I don't know how people can pick them up so easily, I can't even be in the same room as them.
Speaking publicly - speeches and the like. Can't do it. The "imagine them wearing nothing but their underwear" trick doesn't work. The idea of loads of people watching me attentively makes me feel really small. Usually when I'm in that situation My face feels really hot, my voice and my legs shake, and that doesn't make it any easier! If I knew I could give a speech or something, without those things happening, I think I'd be okay. It's something I will have to get used to because I'll be studying for an English BA honours degree soon, and some of the work will involve me giving presentations of different books and other texts I've read. |

Bees/Wasps/Hornets (I've never been stung, and I intend to make sure I don't get stung in both the near and far future)
Wildfire (I can't stand fire that isn't contained, but I can handle still blowing out the candles on my birthday cake every year and such)
Thunder... kind of, sort of (It makes me jump out of the chair whenever I hear it, but I'm not scared of "it" as such)
Vomiting (I don't suffer from Emetophobia like Laura, but my stomach is more delicate than most... therefore, whenever that happens to me, I get hurt worse than most other people would be)
Jumping Rope (I know you're probably laughing out loud at this one, but I'm serious. I always feel as though, whenever the jump rope comes down, it's about ready to chop my arm off. )

Needles- Explains itself
Escalators- See Anduin's
Vomiting- When I vomit, it's always grosser than everyone elses. Once it looked like melted butter, then once it was like pre-chewed cream of mushroom soup... yeah.
Papercuts on my eyes- This has never happened to me, but ever since my mom told me what a paper cut is, I was deathly afraid of getting one on my eyes.
Spiders- I hate anything with more than four limbs. >.<'

Oh yeah, I'd forgotten earthquakes... I've never been in one, but I think my fear comes from the fact that the local natural disaster (tornadoes) is circumvented by hiding in the ground, and the idea of said safe-place becoming the danger is scary. Or something. |

I have been in an earthquake! NZ is like, Earthquakeland! The ground rolled and the windows rattled O_o
IhatethemIhatethem! Especially at night time!
It's scary because I'm a heavy sleeper. So if a big one happened at 2:00 am, I'd be squished dead. |

Being alone in deserted spaces:-
Terrifying. Just knowing that nobody else would know if anything happened to me/anybody attacked me.
Someone breaking into my house when I'm there alone:-
Same reasons. Nobody there. I'd be fighting alone.
Someone breaking into my house when I'm asleep and hurting me:-
Generally just ANYTHING happening when I'm not asleep. I'm a really deep sleeper and I wouldn't notice. I don't like the thought of being unconcious like that because anything could happen and I wouldn't know.
Falling off the pavement:-
Had it ever since I was little. For some reason I always think I'll stumble off the pavement and not be able to get back on and get run over. |

I'm a climber, yet I'm scared of really high places.
Also, I'm home alone a lot, and I'm scared of strangers coming to my house(s) while nobody else is there.

I'm a climber, but hights don't scare me. I guess I'm just lucky because I love to climb trees and stones and it can be difficult to do that when one's scared of hights. I'm also the tallest kid in 7th grade, so I'm used to seeing *high* things.
I'm rarely home alone, so the stranger thing doesn't really effect me... except at night when everyone else is asleep and I hear noises. Part of me knows it's just the house, but I have to feel safe to get any rest.

I have found a fear of heights makes roller coasters more fun! |

I hate roller coasters that make you go upside down! I have been on one coaster before, but that was when I was like, six years old. I kept slipping down beneath the bars. |

I hate being high up, and then looking up. It makes me think someone'll push me over while I'm not looking.

Woo! I love phobias! I mean, they must suck for the people who have them. But I'm fascinated by psychology. Yay.
I know a girl at school who's afraid of open chairs facing her.
As for me, I'm vaguely uncomfortable around heights, but nothing serious. I'm fine climbing trees, though.
I don't like whales. Ugh. They're big, and make really creepy noises, and live in the ocean (which I don't like).
I'm afraid of the dark. ; ; Too much Silent Hill, I think.
But you know, I like being scared. Silent Hill 3 is one of the my favorite games. I love horror movies and literature. Haunted houses are super fun.
It's really weird, being scared. That's why phobias are so interesting, or any kind of fear, really. Yeah, falling off a tall building, that's a valid fear. But come on, whales aren't going to hurt me. What exactly is it that makes clowns and harmless spiders so horrifying? |
