The Simpsons Movie is being released on July 27 (which is the same date as Transformers, so for some, two must see movies in one day). For the promo campaign a number of convenience stores in America have been turned into Quik-E-Marts, which I think is a really quirky and clever idea (photos here). :P I wish they'd do something like that here in the UK!

Are you looking forward to this movie, or are you going to avoid it like the Plague? Are you a fan of The Simpsons, or are you a Futurama or a Family Guy person?

The boyfriend and I plan to go and see it. I definitely wasn't looking forward to it before, since I haven't enjoyed the latest series much at all, (I prefer the earlier series, 1 to 9, respectively) and I thought the movie was going to be the same. Then I saw a trailer and heard some facts about the way they've been constantly improving it and trying out lines and recording different versions of scenes, and how some of the previous writers from earlier series have returned to help out with the film, so now I'm a bit more hopeful than I was.

I'll either find it to be really funny, or I'll come away from the cinema feeling disappointed. If it is a terrible film, we're going for a meal afterwards, so at least I can just console myself with lots of white wine. ;) Haha!

I'm a massive Simpsons fan and I'm really looking forward to the film :D

I'm a little anxious. It'll be either hit or miss, and I'm scared that it might not live up to my expectations.

That said, every trailer and clip I have seen has looked magnificent.

I can't wait :)

Hey, Evilmoo! Haven't seen you around. :D

...But the Simpsons? XP I'm not a big fan. I think that some of the jokes on the trailers were kind of funny, but I'm not sure if that's enough to convince me to see it with my father and Ettinfreak.

...besides, it's PG13. I probably won't see it because Ettinfreak can get scared easily in PG13 rated movies.

...

Ahahahahaha!

Sorry. (But I swear if there is not any form of Futurama cameo in that ruddy movie that I will march straight to LA, look Groening in the eye, and... and... say some very terse things to him!)

...

I'm actually looking forward to the movie. I haven't been keeping up with The Simpsons like I used to, but the animation alone draws me towards it. It, and some of the jokes I've seen (not all of them, but some) remind me of the Golden Years, and that alone encourages me.

The truth of the matter is, I've been waiting for this movie for nearly 13 years, and somewhere, deep inside my soul, I'm still a fan of the show, or at least the show it used to be. My best friend and I are seeing an 11:59 pm showing on Thursday (we already have our tickets), so unless something horrendous happens before then, I will be seeing this movie.

Ugh! Simpsons! I never really liked the shows so I most likely won't be going ot the movies that day. ;)
And I don't think I've ever been to a Quik -E-Mart...

it's kwik-e-mart, like on the series. 7-11 partnered with fox and turned 7 (i think) stores in america into kwik-e-mart, like off the show. they have yellow brick facades, the signs have been changed, and they carry stuff from the simpsons, like buzz cola and krusty-os. the one by my house hired a guy who looks like apu just for the promotion, lol.

I hear the Kwik-E-Mart in Burbank is swamped. It doesn't help that random Simpsons animators from the nearby studio drop by and donate sketches to be displayed there. :P

I think it may have been 12 stores that were converted, not just 7, but I don't know for certain.

I love both Futurama and The Simpsons!
The ad they've been using in NZ is really funny, it has this bunny prancing around going on about beautiful movies, then the Simpsons logo falls down and squishes it and a guy says 'but this movie is so ugly!' Then there's a bunch of scenes from the movie, and finally one of the characters is like 'Guys, the bunny's not breathing!'

Hi Hawksight :)

My sister went to see it yesterday and she said it was very funny, but that it being in a cinema somewhat crushed the atmosphere. I think what she was trying to say was that it would be better watched sat at home in front of the television.

I'm so excited. I should be going to see it soon. I'm somewhat nervous too about it not living up to my expectations but I know it will.

Hmm. Futurama/Simpsons/Family Guy. I like them all. But I prefert The Simpsons to Futurama because even though Futurama is funny, you can only really watch the episode once. With The Simpsons, I can watch it again and again and I'll always find it funny. I'm a massive Family Guy fan too. It makes me laugh more than The Simpsons, but I still like The Simpsons more.

I think my Simpson Movie experience would have been a lot more enjoyable had I not been sitting next to such a, rude, loudmouthed moron. She actually groaned out loud in exasperation during the climax of the movie because, I assume, it was "too unrealistic" for her tastes. *headdesk*

And no veiled Futurama reference makes me a sad panda. But it's ok....

The movie met my expectations. I hesitate to say it exceeded them, but I will say I really, really liked it and I'll probably buy it when it comes out on DVD. There're too many brilliant parts for me to list, so I'll just say I enjoyed them all.

*hums the Carpenters' "Why Do Birds Suddenly Appear" and muses whether certain new characters will crop up in the show*
