Are you a cat fanatic? Do you treat your cat like royaly, including bowing down to him or her?
If either of the answers above is "Yes," welcome to Cat Fancy, the special place where cat lovers can talk about their cats, discuss new (cat-related) things out there, or ask for a reccomendation for something... well... catly.
And to bring this to a start... *ahem*...:
How many of you guys own a cat? Most of you know that I have a male tabby tomcat named Thomas. Now you guys all know that I think he can conrol the universe. But I digress... who owns a cat?

i share a cat with my boyfriend... meaning, she lives with him, but likes me more, haha. i don't know if i treat her like royalty... more like a cat.
i do love her though. she's small, and slim, just a little tabby we picked up at the shelter. her name is layney (she came with the name layne but it sounds like a boy's name... we kept it because of layne staley, just added the last y). my boyfriend got her because she looked wild, and boy is she ever. she thinks she's a tiger or something, and she bites way more than she scratches, and also thinks she can take on his big dog (who, btw, is very gentle and more curious with the cat than bothered by its incessant attacks).
she is totally my boyfriend as a cat, though. today i walked into his bedroom to find them both staring blankly at the television, in the exatc same reclined position, then they both fell asleep on their backs sprawled out next to each other . it was really the cutest thing ever, i would have taken pictures but didn't have my phone on me.
I wanna be your lover,
Lipstick my name across your mirror.

Aawww! ^-^ Layney sounds cute!
Thomas, my cat, is a large tomcat we adopted from a shelter. He has white paws and amber eyes. His white whiskers (they've been white even when he was a kitten) are like lifted strands of lace.
In general apperance, he's a tabby: Has a dark beige coat color and orange ochre stripes. But when you hear him, you instantly know he isn't purebred. Because tabbies are supposed to have soft, sweet voices, right? Tom's voice is loud and attention seeking, like that of a Siamese.
He's about six years old (in human years), and he has a wonderful personality. He loves people in general, can hang out with dogs and not be scared, hang out with birds and mice and not hunt them down, and he loves to be petted.
I must say I share a bond with Thomas... ever since I first saw him in a cage at the shelter, I knew he was the cat for me. He often curls up on my lap in front of the fireplace and purrs while I pet him and drink hot chocolate. I love him so much, and I hope he lives a good, long, happy life with me.
...Murr-RAAOW! Thomas is my favorite pet.
Anyone else own a cat?

Well, I have a Silver Mackerel Tabby called Jasper, who's 3 years old, and whom has taken to sleeping in the bathroom recently. I don't know why... Here's another photo of him as a kitten - what a complete poser, eh? He loves the camera.
Jasper (a.k.a. "Jasp", "Jay", "Jaspie", "Beastie Boy", "Jasberry", "Mr. Jasberry", "Mr. Berry"... Haha, too many nicknames much?) is my everything, and I'm not saying that just because I'm a cat lover - he really is - there's something special about him. I've never known another cat with the personality that he has. He's a very sociable cat, very chatty and playful. I love him to bits and we seem to have this bond that I've never had with an animal before. Since the day I first clapped eyes on him, we've been inseparable - he's like a dog in cat form. He follows me around the house, comes when I call or even whistle him, we play fetch together, he lies next to me in bed, he even "grooms" (licks) my hands and face! I remember the first night we had him - I had him in my room and he was curled up, fast asleep on my pillow. The next morning he woke me up by purring loudly and licking my fingers. Honestly, how many kittens do that on their first morning in their new home? It was amazing.
He also entertaining, there's never a dull moment. Like when he climbs up the tree in our back garden to terrorise the Magpies, or when he brings in little dead animals presents and deposits them lovingly in my Dad's shoe, or when he's chasing a mouse around our lounge... Sometimes I wake up in the morning and come downstairs to be greeted with the hallway scattered with feathers and the carcass of the blackbird he killed hours earlier waiting for me on the doormat, as if to say "Look what I've got you, Mum!". He also likes to go into next door's kitchen and steal a piece of chicken or steak that they've left out to be prepared for their dinner - we've often had the neighbours round, laughing at what Jasper's done. Luckily they take it all with good spirits - he's so michevious. I'm going to really miss him when I move away to university. |
