Nah Laura, I think the Object Injector was introduced with Life Pack #1.
Not really active around these parts anymore. |

Life Pack #1 is included in The Albian Years, which is what I meant when I said "GOG's C1" - sorry, I should've been clearer. |

Oh I found a fix for the new world problem! In the program file directory for creatures 1 there should be a file called world.sfc. Just copy and paste this file over the world file in my documents\creatures\creatures 1! thats all there is to it
It should work with creatures 2 aswell
Also the remastered patch does not work for my genetics kit
EDIT: I fixed the genetics kits! Just check the genetics kit error under help

Anyone know how to get the Blueberry and Doctor/Skirty/etc cheats to work with the GOG version of the games?
(I realize it's an old thread, but this belongs here, and besides, the announcement that the GOG version of creatures exists should really stay on the front page imo...) |

Open up the regedit program and find the gameware dev folder. In there find the game folder and look in the sub folder 1.0. There will be registry entries viewed and there should be one called priviledges. Type the name of the cheat in there

I'm making a small registry tweak program, can someone give me a list of the registry keys the GOG version makes? There's two with the normal version, one under current users and one under local machine.
I will post it for beta testing after this. |

Is this registry tweak for creatures 1, 2, or both? I can find the creatures 2 bit for editing things like cheats and stuff, but I'm not sure about creatures 1 since there is like two folders for it

This is for creatures 2. My install of the normal version has two registry entries like I said, so I am wondering if the GOG/Albian Years one makes both. (The HKEY_CURRENT_USER and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE ones) |

scoota94

There is an entry in both of them but only the entry in CURRENT_USER allows the changes to be made
By the way, I just discovered you can control the total number of kits opened using the registry

Is that in current user? Because iirc, it's local machine on mine :/ |

Is there registry keys on the local machine one that alter settings? Does your computer have more than one account?

It does have "root" and "user" for guests. However, I think modern windows systems would treat for now single-user as multi-user and give them different keys to begin with, at least having things in the current user folder..
Both of the keys machine and local can be used to alter settings, they have different things like max norns in one and cheats in the other. |

Maybe you could just test the privileges key and see what effect it has on the game?

I just downloaded The Albian Years and I love it! brings back so many memories! however im really sad cuz I can't get the COBs to work! the ones that came with the game inject just fine but the ones I get off the internet don't get recognized and sometimes an error message pops up and closes the game. Any tips on how to inject cobs? maybe im doing something wrong... |

Welcome to the forum lucine03
You may need the patch here for some of the installers, but which cobs are you having trouble with? Is this for Creatures 1, Creatures 2 or both? and where are you placing the cob files?

Thanks Don, I'll try to use that patch. It's so nice to see there's still an active community for creatures! It's for creatures 1, and I'm having trouble with both COBs and importing norns I found online. The COBs im most interested in are the grendel killer and food vendors. After I download a COB, I save it but I don't think im unzipping them correctly. The game doesn't recognize them. |

C1 COBs need to have all the files placed in the right folders. .spr in the Images folder etc. Are you doing this? And are you placing your COB files in the same folder that the official ones are located in? |

lucine03

|
8/8/2010 | |
yes i tried putting them in the correct folders and the cob even shows up in my injector but as soon as i click add an error message pops up that says creatures encoutered an exception of a macro script, most probably due to a syntax error and then the game shuts down.
also any ideas where to move an .att file? im trying to import some norns and half the files are spr which i know goes in images and it says to put att files into the body folder but i dont have a folder called body |

Do you have a folder called Body Data or BODYDATA? They go in there. |

lucine03

nope, only genetics, images, sounds, temp, and tempbu. ugh so frustrating! |

The body data must be stored somewhere! (Unless you have really disjointed norns..)
Can you search your computer, for any files ending in .att, ignoring the ones you downloaded? Wherever they show up, that's the folder you need.
Don't know about the COBs though.. it sounds like they are corrupted themselves. Really weird. Are they all from the same website? |

lucine03

|
8/8/2010 | |
ok I got the import to work! that file was hidden. thanks for the help. the COBs are weird they're not all from the same site but most of them are. I got one to work but the other ones keep making them crash. oh well, i can live without them.
I've never played C2. is it any good? |

Welcome to the forums, Lucine03.
Congrats on buying The Albian Years! Personally, I love C2, it's my favourite. Very pretty graphics, cuter Norns, and it's more challenging than the other games in the series, which I prefer. |

i prefer c2 over the other two as well, albia looks nice, plenty of the world to explore and the norns look good |

The graphics are pretty, I find the world itself more interactive than other games (besides maybe Village), there are a huge amount of third party COBs and breeds with more still being made, the kits are helpful and fun, and the creatures are REALLY cute! The basic game can be a little tough and buggy, but with a few essential extras, it can be really great to play. (For me they are: Canny Norns, something to activate power-ups and pick up creatures, breedable Grendels and Ettins genomes and COB, some kind of teaching tool and the hatchery update - which probably game with your modern game version.)
Whew.. hope you enjoy playing C2, lucine03! |

Creatures Games are now $5.99 each!
We know that's the kind of news you like to hear and we're very glad we can announce another price drop in the GOG.com catalogue. From today until the end of days all Creatures games available on GOG.com, which include Creatures Village, Creatures Exodus and Creatures: The Albian Years, are now $5.99 each!
That's not a time limited discount, it's a permanent price change, so now you can breed your own cute, furry, little Norns for cheap.
Woo, great stuff! |
