Well, we've already discussed the creatchis being buried with their belongings. Maybe they could be recycled or 'donated' to the system? : D

I like the orchard idea! I need to post more so I get lots of apples, then when Sunny passes away she can be buried with them in her garden. Then lots of lovely apple trees will grow for future generations.
Look at me, planning poor Sunny's funeral when she's still a child. ![[ntongue] [ntongue]](/images/smilies/emot_tongue.gif)

OK, I've added Creatchis to Favorites. I'll try to make them look nicer sometime soon.

With the very reduced chance of Ilusjva having grandchildren, and the few available gen2+ eggs, I decided to get myself a new gen1 creatchi.

Because creatchi can only have one child, maybe we should try to pair up +2 gen creatchi with first generation ones when possible to increase the number of available adoptions. |

I'm not sure I understand? You could get a larger pool of higher-gen Creatchi that way, but I'm not sure how that would increase the number of Creatchi that could be adopted in general.

I think she means to increase the number of high gen adoptions.
Actually, technically, Gen 1s are unlimited in number.
Whoops! My bad, FeddleFew.

I ment higher gen adoptions- because of the infinet, random nature of the first gens, I don't really consider them to be "adopted", like an egg generated from a .gen file vs. a exported creature download.

I've been wondering- How does the color work, exactly? Is it one spirit that's recolored, or does each color have a separate set of spirits? |

From the looks of it, it's layered graphics, where the sprites get recoloured. At least that's what I think. There are so many nuances in the colouring that would demand a huge amount of images if all colour possibilities were given a full set of sprites. Brilliantly done, actually, regardless of how. |

Each color is a separate image I believe. It's not that many images from the looks of it, if there's as many colors as we've seen with a possible few more. I think there's only 10 colors? blue, light blue, orange, red, yellow, green, lime green, purple, black, brown. Yep 10.
If they were recolored I'd imagine that we would see more colors showing up, especially with 2nd gen x 2nd gen. Those would make some weird colors by now, but, so far I only see a few blacks aside from the normal green, brown, orange, etc.

I wonder if there any colour combos we haven't seen yet? I'm hoping that there might be a chance to see albino creatchis. ![[ngrin] [ngrin]](/images/smilies/emot_grin.gif)

I still hope it is some kinda variable genetics thingy. It is not that hard to implement actually, you just need 3 variables with a certain range. 0-255 (char data type) is basically enough already.
I mean, even DS bramboo uses more or less genetic coloring. It is a bit sloppily made, resulting in more or less gray-ish fruits, but it's still present.
The maths behind it is not much more difficult either. For the first generation you either use random values or (looking at our 1st gens) a set of different base colors from which one is picked.
For higher gens you just average between the parent colors. Optionally you can add a random bias, so that the child tends e.g. more to mommy's color rather than dad's.
Afterwards, to prevent this ugly graying-out problem that bramboo has, you stray in some entirely random values with a very small bias/dominance. Something along these lines:
#pseudo-code#
x = random number from 1 to 9
child color = ((mum's color * x) + (dad's color * (10 - x))) / 10
child color = ((result from above * 9) + entirely different color) / 10 |
This would generate an average between the two parents. It can be completely fair if x becomes 5, otherwise it will bias more to one of the parents. The most extreme case would be a 1-to-9 ratio for either of them.
Afterwards, with a weight of 1/10, a random color is mixed in, to keep things a bit interesting.
In case you either know some basic programming (CAOS, or "real" ) and/or when I explained it good, you should see that it'd be easy to add.
Actually I doubt that it has been like that. I think it's probably a set of pre-colored sprites.

I am stuck between a rock and a hard place: Piping up with a discovery about the Creatchi sprites that I found completely by accident, or keeping it quiet! I believe all I will say is that when it was found, it was during one of those occasions where Chrome completely derped out on me and didn't load the mycaves page completely and correctly. ![[nlaugh] [nlaugh]](/images/smilies/emot_laugh.gif)
I would like to note that this is completely unrelated to my bibble below!

When creatchi first came out and started breeding, my first instinct was that the colors blended like in my color mixer.
I played with changing layer colors and merginging them in PHP late in highschool and through college and came up this guy some years ago. You can change the hex values in the URL to change his colors.
Turns out it isn't much like that at all. XD

Yeah, I meant the head. If you put a Nornchi's head on an Ettinchi body for example, or different colors. No, it doesn't seem to work with other body parts. |

Is it the favorites you don't get? ( cause if so, pretty much anything you "like" other than posts and comments go to your favorites section which can be found when viewing your profile, - from there you can quickly go to any of your favorites, including Creatchis. You know, those ones you like more than the rest )

I've only once ever seen the Creatchi care button. I think I come around at the wrong time once they're all already taken care of.
I don't want to again talk about suggestions or bugs, but, - Is it just me or are anyone else having issues socializing with seriously ill Creatchis? I like to, once paired with another Creatchi, spend Capheda's socializing time helping other Creatchis by increasing their bars, keeping them alive a little longer, but a lot of seriously ill ones never give me the option ?
( I like socializing with ALL Creatchis so that in the future, any ones having troubles are just a click away from being a little happier without the need of an accepted friend request. )

I think after a while, the creatchi is just too sick to socialize. Like, I think it's an intended feature. :C
