And I'd be very grateful if you guys took time to select the name you like best from the poll and help me name her:

Great news Laura! By the way, when you say "expecting" do you mean that you're going to adopt one, or is Matilda pregnant? |

Thanks. I'm getting a kitten of my own, at my new place, while Matilda and Jasper stay with my parents. It would be unfair to split them up as they're so close. |

Take the kitten's coloration, pick a noun it fits (grey=ash), and translate it into latin.
Don't forget. Always, somewhere, someone is fighting for you. As long as you remember her, you are not alone. |

I don't think there are any Latin colours on the list of choices in the poll, Rain.
I voted for Millie!

Hooray for kittens!
I like Munchkin as a cat name, and Millie is definitely my second choice. |

Yay for kittens, Laura! I'm actually semi-allergic, and my brother is deathly allergic, so no cats for me. You'll definitely have to post pictures... Perhaps with a Creatures theme. Ha ha! When is the little one expected to arrive?

Well, it looks like 'Millie' is the most popular name so far! What does everyone think of 'Millicent Rose' in full?
Jessica: All going well, we should have her by June 12th, just in time for the Summer. The litter's not due until April 19th, and they can't leave their mother until they're twelve weeks old.
I feel like an expectant mummy! ![[heart] [heart]](/images/smilies/heart.gif) |

Aww, it must be hard to wait so long! But time in between can be spent preparing the place and getting kitty toys! Balls with bells or smaller balls inside and plastic mice are basic essentials (I'm sure you probably realize this though). We have this red "disco ball" with a smaller ball inside of it, our "kittens" (they're really nearly two years old, but still act very much like kittens) love it, especially rolling in the kitchen, where it's the most loud. That's something I'm really looking forward to doing as the time gets closer; buying all of her kitty things. There should so be Baby Showers, but for kittens instead. |

Ahh that would be cute, you could put out that dessert that you serve in a litterbox (totally fresh from the store of course) that's made of Tootsie rolls and crushed graham cracker. Getting kitty supplies is a lot of fun, try to keep the boxes, though, those are always a win with kittens . |

No problem, I can (probably) safely say that I've gotten a good bit of kitten experience, most of ours were strays though, I can't say that I've dealt with a kitten that was straight from another person .
Edit: Laser pointers are good, too, you just have to be careful with those, don't wanna shine them in your kitty's eyes. |

I voted Millie too! But what if the litter is all males? |

Oh I do have some boy names up my sleeve should that happen. But I'm assuming there'll be at least one girl in the litter and she's been promised to me if so! |

Do you know what kind of breed it is? Or what the parent cats look like? |

They'll be Ragdoll kittens crossed with either Tonkinese or Tortishell. I don't know for sure which. |

Awww I bet they'll be so precious!
Edit: All of those breeds are really pretty, and tortieshells sort of look like candy bars. |

Unfortunately, I won't be getting my kitten now.
Today I was completely flooded out of my home and have had to move back in with my parents for a few months, until everything has been dried out, repaired and re-decorated. The whole house, including my neighbours' houses and the surrounding area, has been submerged in water that reaches up to your knees. Absolutely devastated.
That's the Great British Summer for you; over a month's worth of rain in under 48 hours. |

That's horrible news. Hope everything goes well with fixing and redecorating. Stay strong, you'll be home again before you know it.

Bless you, Rascii, thanks. I've got a few more of my bits around me now, that we managed to rescue today, so at least it feels a little bit more homely here. |

Is this common in the UK? I thought most of the land was well above sea-level.

Well, I think this is the first time I've known the south to have over a month's worth of rain in under 48 hours, so it can't be that common.
We would've been fine where I live, but the stream at the back of our cottages overflowed due to the downpour, so all the water managed to seep in. Plus we had water rolling down towards us from the fields next to us. Here's a photo. My cottage is the one on the far left. Home, sweet home... For a goldfish!!! |

Thanks Ghosthande; things are looking up since I last posted. As of yesterday evening most of the water's gone from inside the cottage! My parents spent hours getting it all out and they've bought a de-humidifier to help soak up any remaining moisture.
Also... I'm looking at kittens tomorrow! My parents have decided that it would okay to have the kitten here until I can move back home, since it won't be too disorienting for it as it'll still be little. I'm so cheered up; just what I needed to hear after a really unlucky week! I'll definitely take photos, if I'm allowed to, and post them here. A cracked rib is not stopping me! |

Oh my goodness, that flooding looks awful! What county are you in? Hampshire seems to have coped alright with the rain.
Congratulations on the kitten though! You will have to take lots of pics - they grow up so quick!

Without wanting to give away too much personal info on here, my county isn't far from Hampshire and, according to the national news, was one of the worst affected. We were on Amber Alert.
And thank you. I might even be allowed to take one home today, since they're apparently ready from now. I'm so excited, not long until we leave to go and see them this afternoon! |
