Evoke-the-Dark C3DS Norn mea | 10/17/2014 | 1 | His actual name is 'Evoke--Dark', but for some reason DS wouldn't let me give him a longer name, although the Autonamer can give him a longer name. He is from one of my Feral Runs for the CCSF. My submission for Grendel Man's contest for a new genetic breed. Here are my ideas:
First Trait - The genders would use different sprites. One gender would have the Boney Grendel head, arms and legs, and the Vampyre Grendel's body. The other gender would have the Neko Ettin head, the Vampyre Grendel body, the Pearl Mermaid Norn tail, and the Boney Grendel arms. Which tail sprite they use doesn't really matter to me.
Second Trait - They feed primarily on light and meat (critters or bugs). If they can't get enough light, they can get a bit of what they need from fruit, but not as much as they would get from light. They much prefer meat and bright lights to fruit (story-wise, the reason they have Boney Grendel arms is because they are better armored for hunting then).
Third Trait - They are amphibious to allow them to hunt down those tasty fish that swarm in the water.
Fourth Trait - Darkly colored to make it look like they would absorb more light?
Fifth Trait - They are Grendels rather than Norns. There are already Plant Norns, so why not a type of Plant Grendel?
I'm not sure how easy or hard it would be to do, but what if the females got less nutrition from the light when they are pregnant (story-wise it would be as if their body was channeling all the nutrition from the light, directly to the growing egg instead of the mother's body)? Because they are getting less nutrition from the light, they have to eat more meat and fruit to make up for it and to keep from starving.
I based the idea on both the Plant Norns and an alien race I once made for a friend's game. |

I presume they get starch from light since critters provide fat and proteing. Maybe make a reaction that works like progesterone 2 + Starch 1 = Progesterone 2 + Starch 0.
For every two units progesterone, one unit of starch is removed. If I recall correctly, pregnancies use more energy mid-term than late-term, but close enough :B

Out of all the submissions for Grendel Man's contest, I like this one the most.
