type | Program | author | Chris Double | updated | 2/13/2017 | version | 1.0.2 | website | [view] | This program allows you to load a C3 .gen file and view a detailed list of all genes within that genome. This list may be copied and pasted to other applications for printing, if desired. Additionally, you can compare the current genome against a second genome and get a list of the differences between the two genomes. This can be used for viewing the mutations of a child from its parents, or comparing the differences between Creature breeds, such as comparing the Grendel genome and the Norn genome.
Also included in the download is "fdrund3.exe" which is required for Gene Compare to work. |

I can't guarantee this will work for everyone, but if you're having trouble getting fdrund3.exe to work, you might want to try booting up your computer in Safe Mode and installing it then. I don't have a clue what exactly the issue was, but I would always hang during setup until I tried it in safe mode. Don't forget to restart normally afterwards!
Anyway, Gene Compare has been VERY helpful in letting me visualize and understand what's going on with different creatures. Helped me solve the mystery of an extreme fast-ager (the other tool I had been using didn't seem to list variant numbers, but Gene Compare did list them and revealed she had a mutation in that respect).

"fdrund3.exe" doesn't seem to be working properly. I click setup and it makes a valiant attempt at installing, but then I just get the install window again but without the setup button enabled.
