In order to spread far and wide, they grow special fruits to be ingested by hungry creatures. The seeds are then carried inside the creature for a short while, until they pass through the body.
The fruits contain lots of sugar and vitamin C, trace amounts of fat and protein, and some water (based on real life data).
Strawberry fruits left on the ground will soon rot, becoming detritus, which ants are particularly fond of. As a result, it's difficult for the plant to survive for long near their nests. But if allowed to rot completely, a new seed will emerge.
Remember, kids: eating detritus is bad for you!
