Highgen Generator C3DS Jessica | 4/6/2014 | 1 |
| type | Misc | | author | Amaikokonut | | website | [view] | Want to utilize a rather interesting .cos file? The Highgen Generator from Amaikokonut certainly fits the bill! Make sure to read this description for important instructions and warnings about this file. It should work, but it has some special requirements. There is also an older version of the file available at Naturing::Nurturing, but it has several issues documented on the page.
To use the HighGen Generator after installing:
- Create a new world
- The file will remove most objects, including lifts and doors, from the world to make extra room for resources
- The file will locate the youngest Creature in the world (If there is none, it will attempt to import the last exported Creature, or create a Creature from a random genetic file)
- The file will then kill or export all Creatures in the world (It only exports one out of every 1,000 Creatures to avoid buildup of excess files)
- Once there is a single Creature in the world, the file splices that Creature with a random genetic file at an average mutation rate to create a Creature of the next generation
- The new Creature is then targeted, spliced, and the process continues indefinitely
- In fast ticks, this file can reach 1,000 generations in approximately 6-7 minutes
WARNING: Once this .cos file is installed in the Bootstrap folder, it will be used in every new world. Be sure to REMOVE it before creating a normal world.
WARNING: Running this script requires a lot of space, because hundreds of genetic files are created every minute. ONLY run this script if you are not worried about disc space, or are planning on stopping it after a short period of time.
TIP: If space is an issue, what you can do is delete and recreate the world every so often and the script will pick up with the last exported Creature.
Note: If clicking on the download link at Naturing::Nurturing just opens up a page, try right-clicking and saving the .cos file in the Bootstrap\001 World folder (C3) or Bootstrap\010 Docking Staion folder (DS). |

I have tried using this once on a C3 world by invoking the .cos file after the world was already made - I managed to starve my Norns to death because it just removed all the objects in the world. Oops. I tried putting the .cos file in Bootstrap for Docking Station next and making a new docked world but all it did was crash - I was never able to access it. Has anyone gotten this to work recently? What am I missing?
EDIT: For some reason I can't run this as a .cos file in Bootstrap right off the bat. I have to start a new docked world, close all the initial popups, and then manually ject the .cos file for it to work. But it does work!
