Plainsong Ettinchi Nutter | born 11/18/2013 | 3 |
Plainsong is letting go, and moving on... |
|
|
Farewell little ettinchi; I'm sorry I didn't look after you better at the end.
| |
|
Plainsong carefully covers the unhatched eggs with some fronds of fern as protection against prying eyes, says a temporary farewell to Zeke, and moves on...
| |
|
Plainsong rests her head on Zeke's shoulder. Bored and unwell, if it wasn't for missing Zeke she wouldn't be that bothered about going - wherever it is old creatchis go. But she does wish she'd been able to see at least one of her eggs hatch. Maybe there's still time...?

Zeke embraces Plainsong. He has a feeling they may not have much longer to spend together.
| |
|
There followed much communication, some of it unspoken, and an in-depth investigation - into language; how telepathy can't get all your points across; how telekinesis can be useful for far more than transporting crustaceans; how cheese and apples can make a nice change in the diet from seafood (although Plainsong admitted the crunch of shrimpy things was interesting, she thought they'd go better with a cheese sauce). The two somewhat incidental lovers wandered through the caves and out into the forest, into the company of wild things enjoying the sunshine.

Zeke speaks for the first time in his life, in a language he's never learned. "It's a Curiosa squid!" Gasping, he puts his hand over his mouth. He looks at Plainsong, and then giggles. Smiling, he says, "Yes, let's start again."
| |
|
Plainsong looks at the golden ettinchi, looking soulfully at her while holding out a flower. He looks sad, and younger than she'd first thought. And, although he doesn't speak, there seems to be some understanding there.
Plainsong sighs, and takes the flower. "Shall we start again?" she asks. "We seem to have got off on the wrong foot. And what was that weird creature that appeared next to me? Did you send it? I put it in a pond, I hope it's ok..."

|
Zeke reels in shock upon seeing Plainsong in the flesh. He regains his bearings and follows her, running through some sort of invisible wormhole. Finding himself in a damp cave, he initially struggles to breathe, but his respiratory system quickly adapts itself to the new environment. He continues to run. By the time he catches up with Plainsong, the heart on her belly has disappeared and the bump has gone down. Though a little confused, he looks at her apologetically. He didn't mean to cause her any harm. Plucking a flower off the wall of the cave, he offers it to her.

Plainsong marches through the caves to find Zeke. "Excuse me," she says, in extreme annoyance, pointing to a discernable bump. "I'm assuming this is yours? Did no-one tell ever tell you it's polite to ask first?! There's supposed to be a bit more to it than waking up one morning with an egg on the way!" And with that, she storms out.

Zeke had been feeling strange since he woke up. At first he put it down to a disconcerting dream about a Zigzag Shark, but now he was starting to notice changes in his body. There were little bumps on his head, he felt more aggressive, and he was gradually growing. The visions of the beautiful Ettinchi were also becoming more frequent.
Suddenly, he was overwhelmed with fatigue, as if all the energy had been drained from his body. This only lasted a few minutes. Then it was as if everything had returned to normal. The changes hadn't reversed, but they had stopped progressing. Zeke when on about his business as normal, a little stunned but fine. What he didn't know was that he had been going through puberty, and had just involuntarily transferred a sperm cell from his body into that of a female Ettinchi, the very one that had been appearing in his visions...
